I'm ready to move wayyyyyy far away from here! It is NOT GOOD to live within a 2 mile radius of your inlaws. I want to strangle some of them almost daily due to their complete and utter ignorance and denseness. I'm thinking of starting a support group.

There's only one who'd qualify in my world, but he's a lulu. I don't say or do much about it, because I figure natural selection will eventually solve the problem. Suffice it to say, I understand completely. Best wishes, George

It's usually not a good idea to live within a 25-mile radius of the family that spawned you, either. That said, my brother-in-law and his wife are now officially dead to us, so it doesn't matter. The best family is the one you choose, not the one you're born into.

So sorry Mel that you are going through this. My husband is the youngest of 10. I love all my in laws and I am so blessed to have them in my life. My Parents call my husband son and love him to death. We were both very blessed to get the in law families that we did. No nightmares here of any kind.

Just had a really good chat with Jesse's cousins wife. She is a great listener! Anyway, I think the problem stems from their age, who their married to and the lack of having a mother when young (Jesse's mom died when he was 18 back in 1993). Jesse is 32, sister Kari is 31, brother Joe is 29, brother Dan (this is where it starts to deteriorate) is 26, brother Mike is 23, brother Matt is 20 and last is brother Kevin who's 19. Kari, Joe & Dan are married. Joe is married to Krista who is 10 years his senior. I get along with them very well! But Dan is married to a spoiled girl who is 23. Dan is very dense, ignorant and unempathetic. Holly (his wife) never lived on her own, always had her parents take care of her, and is quite two faced (experienced that one first hand at Christmas ). I think it's the age gap that's the problem. It is so sad though when you get to Dan's generation how much they don't think of the others in the family at all before they open their mouths or do things. As for myself, I am an only child with dead relatives except for my Grandma. Guess Jesse is lucky in that aspect?? LOL! I've been spending lots of time lately just shaking my head with no words coming out of my mouth to explain why some of these yoohoo's do the things they do or say the unbelievable things they say. BOY that felt real good to put that all down in print!!!

I hate my brothers wife, there isn't one thing attractive about her, from her looks to her personality to even the way she talks. I can't stand to be anywhere near the heifer.

Remember Mel - this is Wisconsin. If you didn't have at least ONE relative like this you'd be from out-of-state! I have a brother (and his wife) who are dead to us (he hasn't spoken to us since the day we buried my dad), a brother-in-law in prison, and a sister-in-law who's a dolt but appears harmless enough. . . . so far. Don't get me started on my MOTHER-in-law. The woman who completely ignored her only married child's 25th wedding anniversary and then thanked me for the "friendship" I've shown her son . . . I actually asked her point blank if she realizes that we ARE MARRIED! Ok - I said I wouldn't go there . . . . .(big deep breath) breathe, wench . . . . breathe . . . . . .

I did marry an only child. Unfortunately he has several half sibblings and step sibblings and ex step sibblings and whatever else sibblings and I cant stand any of them. I keep my mouth shut and suffer in silence mostly out of respect for my husband but to me they are as good as dead. I do not wish to have anything to do with them. I completely understand what Pat meant, my parents in law do the same thing, I dont think they want to acknowledge that we are married and are not in a hurry to get a divorce like the rumours they have been spreading ! Mel, if you start a support group, please count me in!

Haven't spoken to them in a year and a half and i know that i ain't missing anything apart from Xmas & birthday presents and i can do without the tacky crap they used to get me. I have also upset my future MIL and haven't spoken or seen her in over 4 years, damn ime seeing a pattern here its not them its me i am the in law/relative from hell and i love it, less money i have to spend plus less people i have to be nice to at those family gatherings i don't actually want to be at anyway.

I have two brothers and a sister....all married. I dearly love their spouses. They made good choices I guess... Of course my Daddy may have had something to do with that. He never tolerate bad manners, unkind words, or any kind of bullshit between us kids. Musta rubbed off on the inlaws too... Sorry you're having trouble with them, Mel. How 'bout just considering some of them 'ignernt' and blow it off ...if you can. Don't let them get to you....indifference kills shit-stirrers.... Oh....one more thing. Not long now and we'll get to see that new baby girl. I'm excited!!! Love to you, Jackie

I get along with Timo's siblings just fine, although they're older than us. I don't have any siblings of my own, so in that sense Timo is lucky. But the only relative who is bit of a problem is my mother. Is is difficult to put it nicely. It's hard for me, it's hard for Timo. But we're doing our best to deal with her. Sanna

It really cuts down on the family issues, HOWEVER, we have only one child and having two only children under one roof is very demanding, they both want all the attention all the time, on the other hand, my husband and our daughter have an unbelievable bond, I'm quite frankly jealous of....

My sister in law is a twit who has 0 concept of the real world. And whenever she life actually slaps her in the face she runs home and lifes with mommy until she has money to venture out into the real world again. And she is 33. The sad thing is that when she is talking to her brother, he will call their mom "my mom". She has a few issues.....

THIRTY FIVE YEARS! Glad you asked, Mellie! Did I say 35 yrs?? What I mean by that is simply that, for 35 yrs I have dealt with a sister in law who is the quintessential "Church Lady" y'know, from Saturday Night Live....Dana Carvey's character.........she is sanctimonious, judgemental, controlling....and a whiner....a flipping hypochondriac! Whew! I feel better already!!!! Isn't that special! Sadly, with the death of my mother this past July, went my relationship with my only sibling. My sister is very angry with me, and has cut off all communicastion, because mOM MADE ME EXECUTRIX OF THE WILL, AND left me her home.......by way of explanation, we bought a house on an acre, partitioned it, and gave it to Mom. She built her home and lived in it for 15 yrs before her death. My sister is one state south, and in those 15 yrs, came to visit Mom 3 times. Gil and I were here for every minor issue, as well as the major issues.AND we bought the land for her! Say it isn't soo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anywhooo, if these are my sis's true colors..........I'll cut my losses, it's just hard not to call her from time to time. Noone to shoot the breeze with Cathi

My sister in law is a state away, but a colder woman does not exist. I swear, she's like that Cold Miser dude in the Christmas special... when she's around the temp drops 30 degrees, LOL. The first time I met her, I went to hug her...she tightened up like an over wound clock, and I wondered if she was going to pass out from being so near someone. So, while I can stand her all right... she's not warm and fuzzy at all. /to add her pic

Mel: in laws are always a "thing" mineRveryuglytew My husbands family are irish and armenian. family disputes are simultaneously amusing and horrifying I am still trying to figure out why they keep steeling eachother's televisions? So far, this is what i came up with: the irish are quick to adapt and overcome, but they are really good at hating yer gutts forever no matter what. the armenians are convinced everyone is out to steel their womanand cut awf her nipples, so they are just a bunch of gonners anyhow Plus their eyebrows are scary- i mean Hairy . PS: Getting divorced soon i hope You asked din'tcha LOL.
