Morning Stillness...

I took this pic this morning. The Little Wolf River runs across the road from us just on the edge of those trees you see beyond the field. I'm sure it's not as nice as deltadarlin's, but I thought it was peaceful so I wanted to share. Have a pleasant day everyone!

Very peaceful, Mel. Looks like an early morning scene from my childhood. I would cross the field and sneak into the woods to hunt. I'd find my favorite old oak tree and sit down where a crook in the roots formed a perfect seat and wait for the critters to wake up and start their morning routines. Sometimes I'd sit there for hours just watching the squirrels play. As I got older I went there more to contemplate life than to hunt. I wish I could go there now. Seems like forever ago.

Mel, There ain't nuttin' wrong with that picture! It's peaceful and it still looks like there's just a bit of a chill left in the air. It's neat how the fog *appears* to get *wider* to left, pretty good optical illusion. 'darlin

| Beautiful shot, Mel. Your photo and Mike's recollection brought back a powerful image from my own childhood. I grew up in the upper Midwest. There was just such a spot where an old hollowed-out maple tree stood at the corner of my uncle's woodlot, and I used to go there early in the morning when the mist was on the fields to watch the raccoons return to their den in that tree. At just this time of year--late April--spreading from the foot of the tree, there was always a patch of Blue-Eyed Mary's (Collinsia verna) blooming in a sky-colored cloud. My father told me that they'd been there since he was a child, and he'd never seen them anywhere else. Neither did I. For all I know, they are still blooming there. But it's a place and a time that I will never see again. I miss my father. All the best, George

I'm so glad you all enjoyed the view. I sent in the photo to our local news channel for their "pic of the day" they include with the weather. I had one on there previously of the squirrel eating at our birdfeeder last year. George, those flowers are beautiful. I hope this all didn't make you sad!
