not fair, antidepressant question

so i've posted on this site a number of times that i had a great success with depakote and verapamil. i was relatively pain free with only a few breakthroughs for almost 6 months. now all of a sudden the besta is back strong. so the only thing i can think of is that i lowered my celexa by 10mg. anyone have any experience with antidepressents affecting their cycles? my neuro doesn't think it has any thing to do with it , but i'm going to try raising it back up before i do anything else. we'll see. ....

I've been on Celexa for a year and a half now. Initially it worked wonderfully for the headaches. Unfortunately it started to lose it's effect quite rapidly. I am now on verapamil, and in fact when I went off the Celexa, I was back in full attack within a month. Because of the Celexa's success initially, they are leaving me on the Celexa along with the verapamil. So far so good. Of course it's taken a long time to get much relief from the verap, but it's now working, and my head is much happier.
Talk to your doctor about the Celexa, it does work well, but not consistently over time. (my experience anyway)

Celexa.....(Lexapro).....anyone have side effects at first.....my new doc wanted me ta try it for panic attacks (fright or flight syndrone so ta speak)....only on 10 mg's....sheeewwww maken me feel like shit tho. Wonder'n how long that'll last ? I took my first one last nite....just feel sorta trembly with muscle tightness and hot. Maybe a few beers will help tanight....after all It''s Friday ! I am normally very susceptible to side effects and the only side effects I suffered on the Celexa was a dry mouth for about a week.
I started on 20mg, and am currently at the max dose of 60 mg with no side effects.
It works extremely well for anxiety and stress. Had I not been on it when Clark left for Afghanistan I think I'd probably have lost my mind. I was cool and easy goin and had little to no headaches over the Dec. - Mar. 2001/2002 time frame.
Too bad it didn't keep workin

I was on celexa for a couple of years for depression and to see if it would help my ha any. It did help my depression but did nothing for my ha. I started at 20mg and had no side effects what so ever. And let me tell you if there are any side effects to be had I usually end up with them. I am very sensative to medicines. Eventually the 20mg quit working and I needed to up my dose to 40mg. I then started to have some seizures. The brouchure says not to use the medicine if you have a history of siezure disorder which I do. The dr. never told me about it and he knew my background. I was mad. Lost my drivers license for a while and had to go on topamax to combat the seizures while I was on the antidepressent. However, the antidepressent worked good for me for depression and then it lost its effectiveness again so I quit taking it and started taking effexor. Which hasn't helped my ha at all either. But at least I am not on topamax any more and I am not having seizures and the depression is sort of in check. Any other questions feel free to ask me.

Thanks guys for the input on Celexa.....I talked to two freinds on it last nite and they had no side effects.....I am the "side effect queen" anyhow. But I feel hot or hot skin....lightly trembly and my eyes got bit fuzzy...or fuzzier...har-har....muscles all tight isn't pleasant.....and feelin FUNKY.....so wonder what's up with that...the symtoms start to lighten up tho about 2 hours before the next dose is due ? My jaw stays stiff as hell and sorta felt that when on Paxil years back at first. What got me is how puffy I looked this mornin....oh no NOT THAT !!!! So...I dunno wether to continue it and give it time or what. Not havein them fear factor attacks jus lookin for a pair of matchin socks is kinda nice......but not the feelin funky all day. Dam it....heard lotta good stuff about Celexa. Thanks again......Pam-Coots-that-don't-play-with-monkeys

If you cut back or stop taking them it throws the serotonin out of proportion and until the brain adjust to the change yu will have increased attacks as well as other side affects associated with withdrawl from medications of this nature! JMHO Pappy
PS--You might want to get a more knowledgeable Neuro if he didn't see the link between the two, at least tell him he needs to read his PDR a little more often!
