Has anyone tried Sandomigran? I've just started treatment with it and was just after some of your experiences with it. Thanks  Smiley ???

b.bop,
Pizotifen (trade names: Sanomigran, Sandomigran) is an appetizer and mood enhancer. It does this by altering the blood concentrations of serotonin and other neurotransmitters. Because of this it also is sometimes used, with some success, to prevent meegraines.
In the UK Pizotifen is on the list of approved treatments for CH, but I'm afraid to say, we yet have to hear from someone who was helped by it.
Please keep us posted about your success, or lack of it.

I am a 31 year old female from Ireland and have been taking Sanomigran tablets since September 2002. I have noticed a definate decrease in headaches but I am not too sure if these tablets on their own have caused the reduction. I was told by my doctor that my headaches may be linked to muscles in the neck and was advised to try Astanga Yoga or Physiotherapy. I also started Yoga last Semptember and cut out coffee and cheese from my diet. Whether it is a mixture of all these things or just the tablets I don't know.......

I take one 1.5mg tablet at night and definately find myself more tired but other than that I have had no other side effects (maybe some small weight gain).

Since taking Sanomigran I have met a neighbour of mine who's headaches are a lot worse, she lost the sight in one eye last year for 3 weeks. She is also taking Sanomigran but her pattern of taking them is different to mine. She takes them for 3 months and then comes off them for a period of around 7 months before she needs to go back on them again, she says that they block her headaches for up to 7 months, once they start again she goes through the same routine of taking them again for 3 months. I have been told by my doctor to stay on Sanomigran if they are working and would really like to know how other people take these drugs, the thoughts of being on a drug full time kind of freaks me out..... Any comments are very welcome !!

Hi, thanks for the replies! It's good to hear of other cases like mine. I only started taking them a month ago, I'm on 0.5mg at nite, but have been told I can double the dosage if it's not working. My headaches were almost non existant until a few days ago when I got a sudden bad one for about 6 hours. Since then I've had a few, not really bad but strong enough to make life miserable. But before then i had a 4 week headache-free period, not sure its due to the medicine or not though, but I'll keep you posted on how things go  Smiley
