It has now been five nights that i Have been hit during the night (all night), last night I counted about 10 clusters each lasting about 10 to 15 minutes long and each one a level 10.  I keep hitting the O2 and I am taking my verampill.  I am so tired and I can't get any sleep or calm down, i am constantly shaky and so moody I can't stand it anymore.   Cry Hopefully they will leave soon.

Roseanne,

Have you ever tried on of the newer Triptans.  Last time my HA's woke me up constantly at night, I took Axert which has a longer half life than Imitrex and managed to sleep pretty good.

I have only tried Imitrex, Amerge, Maxalt and God knows what else, nothing seems to work for me.  I can't even get to sleep,  I just lay there and look at the clock and try to talk the headache away, all the time while I am tossing and turning like an animal.  I have been getting hit since I  got up this morning at 9:30.  Every hour at least two that last maybe 10 to 15 minutes on a Kip scale of 7-8.  Night time are the Kip 10's and higher!!
I feel very shakey and I can't focus on anything.

Yike's Roseanne... I've had cycles like that myself.  Although my Doctor wouldn't approve of this, I started taking a higher dosage of Verap.  Have even gone up to 1200mg's a day.  I posted earlier on one of the other threads that I was taking 1140mgs a day, re-calculated it... 1080mg's a day.  Took a while for it to build up, but cut the number of my HA's down to about 1 or 2 of day!  Haven't be PF yet, hopefully Elavil will help!

Hi Rosanne.  Please pardon me if you've already examined this option but... have you tried indomethacin?  I ask because 10 attacks lasting 10 to 15 minutes sounds like it could be CPH (Chronic Paroxymal Hemicrania), and indomethacin is very effective for treating CPH.  Maybe you should give indomethacin a try.  Again, I'm sorry if you've already tried this, but just thought I'd mention it.

Has anyone ever recommended that you take caffergot as a preventative before you go to bed?
I've had CH for 30 years and while the various meds are useful during the day, nothing works whil I sleep and there is nothing more awful then being continually reawakened from deep sleep. Running for oxygen many times a night is not an answer.
I cope with this through caffergot supposories: 1/2 to 1/3 works and as the verapamil kicks in or the cycle stops peaking I can use less. One problem, however, is that it may not be ok to use Imitrex or other triptans if you use caffergot.
I hope that this helps

I actually just got out of the hospital.  I went in on Monday afternoon and I just got home.  I was on IV DHE and it helped.  I am now on DHE injections plus verapamil and Topamax and Elamil.  Hopefully this will work for me now.  I have been getting hit, but not as bad as I was.  Thank God.
