Sorry, hate to be a tread pig but I just made my first neurologist appointment. The gal I talked with said this doc gives "votox injections". What the hell is that???? I haven't heard that one here.

OK you thread pig... Botox (botulism toxin injected into the forehead to paralyze muscles - used to reduce wrinkles) has also been used on CH patients. My sister had it - didn't help. Of course I think she wanted an excuse to get 'em. Not sure what excuse she used for the bigger boobs. I don't know how others responded to it. (the Botox)

Are you sure that wasn't Botox?

Botox is the trade name of Botulinum Toxin Type A, a purified toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In small doses, Botox is injected into specific muscles at motor nerve endings, paralyzing the muscle so it cannot contract.

My neuro gives them in the back of the head, where the ocipital nerve and trigeminal nerve meet.  (Spelling sucks so get over it!)  They give .5mg mixed with 1cc of Benicane.  Have had good results with it, including an average of 4 to 6 months remission in chronics.  My next injection was supposed to be the Botox/Benicane cocktail but the verap kicked in and didn't need it.  Am more than willing to give it a go next time around.

Hate to be a thread pig on a 'thread pig' thread, but,

I thought Botox was for smoothing out wrinkles! And where is jonny on a thread with boobs mentioned in it???

It is. It does that by paralyzing the muscles. When injected into nerve endings associated with cluster headaches, it's purpose is to paralyze the nerve.

Guido ,
Glad your still posting and seeing the neuro. Hope that you can try something less invasive first...but hey whatever works, might try it myself sometime.
