Title: I think I got a good doc here!
Post by cwp2002 on Oct 19th, 2004, 2:17pm
I know everyone was worried about me, but I didn't feel the need to speak....Untill now.

Went to Dr. Mussarat today, he was quite thorough.  and guess what,? He diagnosed  me (again) with CH.  Anyhow in all fairness this was the first time I saw him.  This is what he did, O2 10 Liters for 10 min. Normal right?  well He said that I should do it right before the Normal time of HA.  Odd HuH? Next 6mg imitrex shot.  20mg pregnazone?120 Mg Cecal ( calcium channel blocker) another brain scan if they can find it this time. But this time not MRI but  an MRA. and an EKG (I think, is that right or EEG? oh hell one of those things with the wires and the graph paper. Anyway we follow up every week to track progress and change Meds accordingly.

WHAT DO YOU PROS THINK? is this guy on the right track?

The whole point of using O2 to abort a ch is to overload your blood with O2, that causes the blood vessels to shrink.  It has to be a high flow to work.

The O2 aside, the MRA and EKG are to monitor the effects of the meds on your cardiovascular system, which makes sense to me, particularly if you're middle-aged or so.

Ditto to Thomas on the liter flow.  Also be sure you're using the right delivery system - non-rebreather mask and not a cannula.  Good luck!
