well finally my luck turns for the better....

Early In the year 2000, I went all out and bought myself a brand new Toshiba Satelite lap top at "Costco's" It cost me $1247 with tax.
As I was checking out, the clerk told me that they had a return policy that allows you to return anything at any time no questions asked.

So I kept my receipt.

My Toshiba was slowly dying on my after 5 years...so I called Costco's and said that I knew it was a long shot but did that return policy still stand.

The guy told me they had changed the policy because people were abusing it. BUT if I had bought my laptop before 2002 that I had the grandfather deal and could return it for a full refund or use that money to buy a computer there.

So last night I walked in with my half dead Toshiba satelite and walked out with a brand new Gateway 7415GX AMD Athlon 64 processor notebook that plays dvd's with a 15.4" wide screen. It cost me $64 to pay extra.

I'm loving Costco's right now.

funny thing was as I was taking my hunk of junk out of my case and putting it on the counter, the manger said, "yeah we had to change that policy as people were just bringing their old stuff in to upgrade for free"

"Really?" I said...."That's awful" and shook my head.

LOL! I just brought in a 19in flat panel display I bought from Costco a year ago. Funny thing was after returning it I walked into the store and bought the exact same thing for $120 less. Got to use the display for over a year and got $120 back. But I think for $600 it should last over a year so I don't feel like I screwed em..

The panel has a 3yr warranty but it's one of those box-it-up, send it in and they'll fix it and send it back. I would have been stuck without a display for weeks.

Congrats Jayne, I put them right up there with Home Depot and Walmart. I've returned stuff at the depot with no reciept and tools beat to shit and I always get the answer I'm looking for when I return something....................................no problem, thank you for shopping with Home Depot, please come again ;;D

That kicks ass that you got a brand new replacement. I'm happy for ya luv. ;)

Just sorry to hear you got a Gateway. ;;D All of the puter geeks I know refer to Gateway as the 'disposable' puter.

It's always a cool thing to start using a newer, faster computer. Have fun with it.

On the subject of luck. Mine is the exact opposite. We went to Balmoral Race Track (Horses) last night for my wife's Christmas party. Of the 7 races I bet on, four of my horses came in dead last. :( Can I borrow some of your luck for the next time?
