Title: Weekend Movie Reviews Post by Bethany1 on Jan 10th, 2005, 11:10am Open Water--- extremly psychological movie. Worth the rental $. You will never scuba dive again. Thumbs up. Troy-- Brad Pitt. Thumbs up. Wicker Park-- Too drawn out, boring. Thumbs down. Manchurian Candidate--- Even tho its a remake, Denzel makes the movie. Thumbs up. Collateral--Never quite takes off. Tom Cruise ugly with grey hair. Thumbs down. Anchorman-- Sucked. Couldn't get past 15 mins. Thumbs WAY down. King Arthur-- Not as good as Gladiator or Troy so Im giving this one half. No thumb up or down. I had a lot of free time this weekend. ;;D |

Title: Re: Weekend Movie Reviews Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Jan 10th, 2005, 11:28am Sorry I have to disagree with you on Anchorman. My wife and I laughed our heads off at this one. We also watched Dodgeball last night. Laughed just as hard. I guess you need to be a SNL fan to like these kinds of movies. Tonight we will be watching Collateral. |

Title: Re: Weekend Movie Reviews Post by Bethany1 on Jan 10th, 2005, 11:36am Eyeball, I am a fan of SNL, and love Will Farrel (sp) that movie (anchorman) I just couldnt get into, believe me I love him in everything he has done.... OLD SCHOOL was awesome. The Usual Suspects is an all time favorite, I love that movie, Kevin Spacey is great. I have a lot of fav movies, and Usual suspects in one of them. |

Title: Re: Weekend Movie Reviews Post by vig on Jan 10th, 2005, 12:33pm Troy was good, but where was Odysseus? Dodgeball was entertaining but stupid 50 First Dates was nice. hug your supporter if you have one. A Day at the Races.... Great! Flight of the Phoenix... the Original. GREAT! Toy Story... Great! (babysitting duty) Pulp Fiction. Weird Spinal Tap. Fantastic Usual Suspects. Good |

Don't it suck having to watch those kiddie movies? [wink wink, nudge nudge] I just got The Dark Crystal and The Tigger Movie for, uh, my grand daughter. For a 17 month old - yeah right. Actually, I like watching a lot of the kid movies. I guess I'm just a kid at heart. Besides, the dialogue in a lot of them is more for the adults who are "forced" to see them with their kids. Well, gotta go. Gonna try to find Fern Gully on DVD - for Sahara, of course. Gator |

Title: Re: Weekend Movie Reviews Post by Jayne on Jan 10th, 2005, 1:01pm Another good Denzel movie was "Man of Fire" It sort of hints at the end that this was a true story. Starts off a little slow and then it is gripping. Oh and the movie Open Water. Turns out I was on that same boat with the same female staff member that was in the movie, On holiday a couple of years ago in the Bahamas with my boss and my sister. I almost shat when I watched the movie. Well my sister and I only snorkled while my boss and his cronies dove. There was no way that boat could leave my sister and I behind as all you could see were our white arses bobbing up and down in the water. ( We are Englinsh) I have no idea if that incident happened before or after we were on that boat. :o |

I was disappointed with The Stepford Wives and Dodgeball was pretty good. I also enjoy anything with Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp. Just so I can sit and watch them for 2 hours!! |

Title: Re: Weekend Movie Reviews Post by Melissa on Jan 10th, 2005, 3:28pm Rented 2 movies over the weekend, "Resident Evil the Apocolypse" and "Saving Christmas". I was surprised that I actually enjoyed "Saving Christmas" as the reviews I read were awful. It was a light and funny movie. Resident Evil the Apocolypse was pretty damn cool. I cannot wait till the next one comes out! (and it better!) :) |

Title: Re: Weekend Movie Reviews Post by PrettyH8Machine on Jan 10th, 2005, 9:26pm I haven't been to the theatre in ages, but supposed to be going to see "Meet The Fockers" soon. I, Robot - Kicked ass! I'm dying to see Shaun of the Dead, as I am a zombie film connoiseur. Big hits for me lately have been: Dawn of the Dead - The remake is very wicked!!!! It was heavily dismissed by Romero purists as a cheap "28 Days Later" knock-off. I still love the classic original, but this remake is just viscious Leon: The Professional - With Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and a 12 year old Natalie Portman. The uncut version is awesome. Old School - Hilarious! Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation - This one the bugs can get inside you! Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2:Dead By Dawn and Army of Darkness. - Great slapstick horror. Early works of Spider-Man director Sam Raimi S.W.A.T. - cool movie Top 3 for me are still American Beauty Dreamcatcher The Green Mile CD |

My (grown up) son wanted me to watch this one with him, knowing I would likely be horrified. And I was...and I watched the whole damned thing. :o I don't know that I'd I'd call it a "good" movie...but the acting was very good and it really sucks you in. |

Title: Re: Weekend Movie Reviews Post by guesst on Jan 11th, 2005, 2:43pm This weekend we watched The Princess Diaries II, I thought it was lame. Daddy and Them, I love this movie, it is like a family reunion for me, I could watch it over and over. Little Black Book, I thought it was ok, kinda cute. Formula 51, one of my all time favorites. Laurel Canyon, a really good indy film, lots of relationship issues dealt with on this one, for nose breathers only. ;) Barber Shop 2, ok, not as good as the first. The Terminal, loved it, Tom Hanks rocks! Great personal interaction. White Chicks, Lauged my ass off. Another one, can't remember the name, but it was about a guy who wrote a book on how to break up with someone, starred Jaime Foxx, was ok, but the storyline was just too old and overdone, pretty predictable. |

Love them both. You forgot "Glen or Glenda," by the way. I saw "From Hell" not long ago....everything I look at is on cable so I'm a little behind. It's bizarre and if you don't know history, it works. I really love the first Harry Potter movie. The kids are very cute. HBO is running one of their own: "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers." It was pretty well done. HBO does some good stuff. They did "A Gathering Storm" a couple of years ago. I know I mention it all the time but it's one of the best movies I've seen in years. Charlie |
