I feel sorry for DJ having to see all of the fighting and crap that goes on here every day. The old timers aren't dropping. They're here still. They are mostly the ones who lurk and don't bother any one. I personally like to stay in touch with the other people here and I do that by posting and replying to other peoples posts. But most of them dropped out of sight or post only once in a few month. That's because Den's saying of "Take what ya need and leave the rest" is no longer of much use. The cake got bloated with so much hot air that it is hard to find the few raisins left. It's not "Because of new people posting", but because a few new people finally found their much deserved audience (they think). They start posting at a rate of 10-15 posts per day (and at least one does so since 6/6/04) and if they have nothing else to say, it's at least a "me too". Some leave their "droppings" in every post, just to reach the magic 1000-post-mark in a month or less (you know who you are). Just in order to make it harder to find what "to take" the master sucker left a dozen "funny" lines in a dozen posts in this thread alone; but I doubt that he provoked a total of a dozen smiles. It is no longer possible to watch the river flow (polluted or not). The river has grown to raging torrent, a flash deluge, that threatens to wash all common sense to the sea. All what will be left (besides the me2, me3, me4,...) are some uneducated guesses how to treat our affliction, because the more educated "oldies" will run for dry ground, leaving behind this swamp of platitude. First of all, I love just about everyone here. I've gained info, support, and smiles from just about everyone and I drove two hours to meet a few of you too and I wouldn't trade that for the world.....BUT When I first logged on I figured there must be do's and don'ts of the board and I thought I'd keep quiet until I figured out proper MB etiquette. I even asked a few people here what might be considered taboo and what's appropriate. The only advice I was given was Den's famous phrase so that's what I've done.....But, ah HA!! Just as I suspected, some of you DO have rules that if not followed require a response. If I post a bunch, the Old timers won't like me because I like to hear myself type, if I don't post at all, you all probably won't think I'm a good supporter and think I don't care about you. This newbie feels he is damned if he does or doesn't. Observation, no slam, just fact: Frank (who I happen to like, and some don't) posts at a rate of about 14 per day, that's why some people are able to get to know him, size him up, and pass whatever judgement they see fit. And our own King, Jonny, has posted at a rate of about 11 per day, which is how we are able to get to know him, size him up, and also pass judgement. My opinion on both of them is sometimes their posts are relevent and some times not, but they are both good supporters. That's how I was able to formulate my opinion on both of them. Question, Can someone who agrees with Leesa and ueli please explain to me what makes someone like Jonny "right" and someone like Jeep, for example, "wrong"? Love you all, K9 (Chuck) P.S. If newbie and veteran did not matter why would DJ have that feature showing how long people had been on the board. I am sure he is capable of taking that feature off. This is where I think it matters. If I were a new person coming to the board looking for advice on doctors meds etc. I would be far more inclinded to take the advice of someone has been around a long time than someone who has had a couple of posts. But as far a general support goes, we are all invaluable. Ok I'm off to contemplate my navel now |

As for the rest of this topic, I suppose I could understand people getting hacked off if all of these posts were taking place on the Cluster Headache Specific board, or the OUCH board, and were entirely off-topic and out of place. This, to me, would be a violation of Internet etiquette, but as CH sufferers/supporters in the General Section, I'm afraid I don't understand why people are getting bent out of shape. I also don't understand why "old-timers" get bent out of shape and decide to leave when new people post. The thing that would cause me to finally leave this board, is the constant bickering, drama, and fighting. There's no good reason for it, and it benefits no one. When it's all said and done, all it does is leave hard feelings and leaves people feeling unwelcome, in the ONE place on the entire Internet, where clusterheads SHOULD feel welcome. In any case, if/when I decide to leave, it will be MY responsibility for MY actions, and I won't be placing the blame on people that the blame does not belong to. For those "old-timers" that decide to blame the new people: Grow up, take responsibility for your own actions, and post if you want. Don't post if you don't. But don't blame other people for your personal decisions and actions. That's a cop-out, and as long-time members of this board, you should be glad that others are finding this board and getting help and support. Who cares how long any of us has been here? We all suffer from the same condition, and we're all in this together. If I hear, "Pick up an oar and start rowing," one more time, I'm going to scream. Maybe it should be, "Pick up an oar and start rowing if you're one of the venerable old-timers, otherwise, your help isn't wanted or needed, and you have nothing of value to offer because you just don't have seniority, so go sit in the corner and STFU, N00B!"
