Title: Hello
Post by ctownman on Jul 6th, 2004, 7:13pm
Hello to everyone out there.  I read about this site in the paper and was very excited to check it out.  I guess I just wanted to say how wonderful it is to see something like this.  I wish that this had come about sooner or that I found it sooner but, either way, this is such a blessing.  I could never seem to relate the pain and what was going on inside my head to anyone around me, not because they didn't sympathize, but simply because they couldn't understand.  And it can be extremely hard to explain, as most of you probably know.  I have been pain free for about 2 years now (KNOCK ON WOOD FOR ME PLEASE!!!).  I am 35 years old and began having these attacks when I was 16.  If I had one question, it would be "How do these things get started?"  I live in Ohio and as any midwesterner knows, the humidity level increases tremendously in late July and early August.  This would be my trouble times.  Last until mid September.  Once a day for sure, sometimes 3 or 4 times.  Get occassional lapses in March.  As I have read some of the testimonials, the memories of the demon come flooding back.  Wanting to throw your head through a wall, pull your hair out, want to throw up but can't, maybe pull your eyeball out for just a few minutes to take away the pressure.  I go to sleep nights just praying that it will never return to me.  Anyway, I wish all of us the best, because nobody deserves this pain.  If anyone wants to leave me a message, I'll reply.  Just to talk.  I know how you feel.

Hi,

Happy to hear you're currently PF.  All of us who are episodics treasure those times and, at the same time, dread the next attack to come.

I'm midwest too - lower penninsula of Michigan.  My episodes always start in late spring/early summer (every 3-4 years).  I definitely believe that circadian & seasonal rhythms play a part in this terrible syndrome - but I think there's alot more to it.  Why, for example, don't I get a cycle every year?!?  (But, thank God I don't!)

Don't think anyone can really answer your one big question.  The researchers are still researching.  There's alot of info here and I'd also suggest you follow the links to the left.  If you find the answer, you can be sure most of us here would like to know!

Best wishes - keep in touch.

Kris
