This is weird.... mmmm. Last night I smelt bacon cooking but there was no bacon cooking anywhere in the house.

Has this ever happened to anyone else on the board?

Not that I'm complaining I love the smell of bacon frying. God knows it could have been worse.

sometimes when I would have a seizure yes I would get a burnt bacon/soap smell. Hard to describe but I doubt that is what is going on with you.

Perhaps it was a psychic, rather than a physiological event. Could mean you're about to be arrested. ;)

I have had that happen a few times, like you enjoyed the aroma(sp) but kinda freaked because no bacon in weeks so not sure where it came from.

but seriously Tony if weird smells persist you really should talk to your Doc. I smell blood all the time, but given the nature of our affliction I don't find it to be odd.....tim

Interesting stuff Scott. I had smell auras back when I had migraines and it was something coppery as one person mentions in the peice. I sometimes wonder if I have migraines still underneath the CH as my official diagnosis as per Joel Saper in MI. and Dr. Ken Moore in Chicago was "Cluster/Migraine Varient" except I have never heard of or had a one sided Migraine......Tim

There are alot of differant types of auras. I have smelled things, heard noises (voices like the tv is on somewere in the house) and my fav. the flashing lights in all the pretty colors.

I think we all have alot of differant things going on in our heads besides CH

Scents can definitely be an aura. About the only aura I get is a pusling in my eyes, but I don't always get an aura with a migraine. Sometimes thedamn thing just onsets.

I wish there was an aura for Ch besides just shadows. Some days I shadow so heavy I am constantly thinking I am going into an attack because it'll build then release a bit... until a full-on CH's says 'enough playing around'.

You might want to talk to your doc about it.

Or maybe you were just hungry. ;)

My sister, also an episodic CHer, gets one sided migraines. She once reported the persistant smell of Italian sausage and peppers (throughout a whole day) when she successfully used a SPUT for a migraine.
Guess what she had for dinner that night? ;)
nani, who looooves bacon and sausage and peppers, but never gets any good smell hallucinations. :-/

I sometimes pick up a smell of something experienced earlier in the day.....often food...and sometimes more than a few hours ago. They say the sense of smell is about the most pronounced of all.

Thanks all.

My sinuses are fine with the exception of when I get the usual CH Left nostril clog and drip.

Today I really wanted to smell Sugar cookies but to no avail.

I'll mention the hallucination to my doctor...Then I'll try to help him roll his eyes back down out of his head. On my last visit (last week) I went armed with a stack of print-outs and information gathered from all of your suggestions in regard to Oxygen (from another thread) He didn't give me a script but he referred me to a Neurologist. He's usually a hell of a nice guy... but when I presented him with the info he seemed pissed off.... I don't know, maybe he was having a bad day.

I've not been in the best of moods lately. The lack of any meaningful sleep, is definitely a contributor. I'm avoiding the use of the Imitrex because of heart concerns and the beast is more interested in Boxing than playing checkers.

Thank all of you guys for your comments... sometimes I don't know what I'd do without you, life would certainly be allot less worth living.

Hang in there my friend ! It sounds like you are doing all the right things. My present Doc is good, but I have had some especially "specialists" that get upset when you come in knowing more then they do about what you need.

Got a new doc today, (Internist), who was interested in CH. Had never known anyone with it, so I obligingly presented him with a K6 hit. :'( The things we go through to teach our docs!) ;;D When he was looking at my charts on the computer it was showing clustermigraine varient. He said it is just an old government diagnosis that has not been updated to match current medicine. He told me he would be happy to learn anything he could from me as he was sure Iknow more about it than does he! I think I'm gonna like this doc!

That's not really that unusal. I have auras a lot. Smell bread cooking (never did the bacon, but ...). I have migraines along with CH, so I don't know which one is causing the auras. They're usually worse when I shadowing really bad.

Today I'm praying for the smell of my mothers sauce and meatballs.... God I miss her.

Ya know... as goofy as this condition is... it sure keeps me entertained. Now if I can only find a way to enjoy pain. But on the bright side after surviving every major hit I try to dredge up the attitude that if I can endure this then I can endure just about anything...

After being on this site for a little while (compared to a lot of you folks here) and reading your posts... I find that so many of you are the bravest folks on the planet. In the face of great pain and personal suffering you manage to be generous, compassionate and sincerely concerned for others. The spirit of your actions remind me so much of a prayer:
