Title: Identity theft?
Post by marlinsfan on Jan 24th, 2007, 4:15pm
I haven't been posting too much lately, and when I have it's usually pics of my baby Marco.

I got a letter from my employer last week telling me that my personal information (name & social security number) may have been on a list that was sitting on a laptop that was stolen from one of our consutants offices. They say the laptops were password protected. I assume anyone can hack into those, right?

Other than signing up for a credit monitoring service, getting copies of my free annual credit reports and putting a fraud watch on my credit reports, does anyone have any other suggestions?

This blows!

That's almost verbatim the instructions we give our identity theft victims. If the pc was password protected you're probably okay. The bozos on the streets lifting laptops aren't usually sophisticated enough to hack info, they'll just hock the pc at a pawnshop. Hoping it was a dummy that sole it!!!!
