Title: Going little nuts in here Post by sandie99 on Jan 31st, 2007, 5:29am I've been trying to fill the application form for the journalism training program. The form is basically typical electric form, except that this time I need to reply also to questions about my networks and what was the most interesting news story last year. And my mind is complitely blank! :o I'm going to send them 2 copies of the articles I've written in the past. It is hard to choose just two! If it would be 3 or 4 I would know, but just 2... I'm probably, once again, overthinking this. But I can't help it! It would mean the world to me to get in, so you can imagine the pressure... :-/ Luckily I can postpone filling that form until tomorrow (ok, tecnically until Sunday, but I'm not going to leave it until the last minute), but I have to send those articles today. Let's just hope that I can select the correct pieces and what comes to the application, the right words. Hugs, Sanna |

Title: Re: Going little nuts in here Post by artonio7 on Jan 31st, 2007, 5:37am Pick 4 of your favorite articles that have equal strengths.... print them.... put them on a table.... close your eyes really tight....say "God, you choose." ...Then pick two and thank God. All the luck in the world to you Sanna. You're in my prayers, With warm regards, Tony |

Title: Re: Going little nuts in here Post by sandie99 on Jan 31st, 2007, 5:53am Thank you, Tony! :) And thanks for the good suggestion. I was actually planning to do a 5-minute meditation and then pick the suitable pieces, but your idea sounds great! :) PF days, Sanna |

Title: Re: Going little nuts in here Post by LeLimey on Jan 31st, 2007, 6:37am Sandie I like Tony's idea too - not least because, in the UNLIKELY event you aren't happy about the selection after the fact - you've got someone to blame ;;D Sorry Tony, you're a nice guy and all that but us wimmens have to band together!! |

Some excerpts from journalism teachers about writing creative non-fiction, a 21st century interest. enjoy it and feel invested in it I believe that clear thinking and clear statement, accuracy and fairness are fundamental to good journalism. They are things like attention to detail, news judgment, grammar and style, multitasking skills, communication skills and ability to work under time pressure. Critical thinking skills allow you to make sense out of the world around you. develop research, organization, and composition skills organizing materials and writing with clarity and precision. writing stories for maximum interest and impact :) Your decision Sanna, the one's that reflect the first, emboldened phrase could say a lot, too. Feel lucky you have good work to choose from, I'd be still editing my articles from last year. ;) |

Title: Re: Going little nuts in here Post by sandie99 on Jan 31st, 2007, 11:55am Good one, Helen! ;;D Kevin, I feel that my profession is a priviledge. And yes, writing material quickly, but also correctly is what i'm trained to do. :) So, I've made my choices and sent them. I chose one culture piece and one general interest one. I think that they show my versatile writing. Now, all I can do is hope that they were the right ones! Thanks for your input and encouragement! Hugs, Sanna |
