You gotta be friggen kidding me! What ever happened to a football, or a baseball and bat or a truck or toy train for Xmas? I ain't rich by any stretch, but the toy stores think I am :-/ OK, I'm done whining now because Barb said "Welcome to the real world" ;;D The Grinch, Who had Christmas stolen from him! |

Title: Re: I've got sticker shock! Post by Rosybabe on Dec 7th, 2007, 10:52pm [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] oh now my hubby has a partner on crime, another Grinch! [smiley=laugh.gif] I order the toys online and he does not want to know how much I paid for the things [smiley=laugh.gif] it also saves time and you don't have to fight in the parking lot ;;D. He just went crazy because I bought a $20 inflatable penguin that my daughter saw at a flier from Dollar general, the thing is huge (8ft) and $20 box is cheap for something that big, but he still complained :-/. It looks good in the front yard ;;D |

Title: Re: I've got sticker shock! Post by BarbaraD on Dec 8th, 2007, 7:26am Another Grinch..... I've been paying attention over the years (since my Buddy was little) and have noticed that once the gifts are all opened - the kids normally play with the BOXES!!! So, when my little Caleb gets bored, I drive by a fast food place, go to the dumpster and pick up a BOX, thow it in the back of the truck and WALLA -- a new toy!!! This Christmas I have several wrapped BOXES that I know he will LOVE. And they cost me NOTHING except a drive by. I was the only one shopping THERE! (Well except my neighbor who thought it was a great idea also.) Hugs BD |

Title: Re: I've got sticker shock! Post by midwestbeth on Dec 8th, 2007, 9:47am Just wait until they become teenagers!! The sports/toys/clothes become more expensive :o I hear ya Barb!! We lived in the city when my son was young. There was an appliance store right across the alley. All the neighborhood kids had a blast building and playing with all the boxes they would drag into my backyard. When they were done, the boxes went back to the store into their dumpster. Beth |
