Title: Can depakote reduce the effectiveness of Imitrex?
Post by MarkV on Apr 4th, 2002, 8:50am
I started depakote 3 weeks ago.  I was okay until this morning.  I tried to abort with an injection but it didn't help at all.   :-/  I've used Imitrex around 6 times in the last couple months and this is the first time it didn't work (is it coincidence that this happened now that I'm taking depakote?)
???

I am on valporic acid (short acting depakote) and have never experienced this...don't see how it could affect the imitrex but who knows..sorry i could not help more. ;D

I've been on 500mg depakote for 5 weeks and just finished a week of 1000mg daily depakote.  During this time I've taken plenty of imitirex tabs (50mg) and all I can say is that most of the time it works but sometimes it does not.  I'm not sure that it has anything to do with the depakote, my opinion is that it has something to do with how bad the beast is and how fast you got to the imitrex.

Best of luck.  PFDAN always, Linda T.

Thanks all.  I've been on 1000 mg daily.  I guess I'll wait and see till the next time I need Imitrex if it works.  I'm in the stockpile mode now.  ;)
