Hi: My name is Victor and I have been suffering from Cluster Headaches for about 4 years  . I am seeing a neurologist who has put me on verapaxmil and lithium. I recently weened myself of the lithium since it zapped my energy level. I am still on the verapaxmil and have a cluster headache once every day or two. Once in a while I get several in one day. Over the years the headaches have become much more severe......requiring an imitrix injection followed by amerge after 3 hours. My doc says I am a chronic difficult case since I have not had more than 5 days relief without a cluster. I started accupuncture treatment about two months ago but have not noticed any change. Does anyone have any experience with Accupuncture therapy? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

hey there,
Wow, yours sound a lot worse then mine. Never tried accupuncture before, but I truly believe in alternative medicines. My doc just started me on Verapamil yesterday. I'm not chronic, just episodic. I'm a little scared that I may have to go on lithium some day.

Hi Victor,
I've tried both accupuncture and massage therapy. Both were consistently effective for getting rid of a headache. But for breaking a cluster, I'm sorry to say its inconclusive for me.

I am also sorry to hear of your pain brother . like melissa I have no experience with acupuncture, I have tried chiropractic treatment with some success for individual headaches but not breaking cycles...alas topamax, midrin, and amerge are my only hope in an emergency...Good luck though I hope it works for you..mmom

I agree with david m and murphysmom...accupuncture did not help me...massage therapy helped with the tension in my neck and shoulders when under attack really hard but did not stop the chs....sorry i could not help more....rite now, imitrex is my salvation....smiles,nancyc

From what I have seen and read, acupuncture hasn't been effective for Ch. Most alternative medicine isn't effective, and is usually expensive.
Believe me, I wish otherwise.
