found a better doc

I took evrybody's advice and did some research, and made an appointment with a pain specialist.  I went for my appt. Monday, and at first he gave me a hard time about the amount of imitrex I needed on a daily basis.  I never exceed over the recommended doses per day.  He said it was not good for your body.  Well, neither is living with the CH's.  So I got really honest with him, and told him I was not a hyprchondriac, not a drug seeker, but I was fed up with going to walk in clinics and being denied treatment, and tired of having to go to the ER to get imitrex, and I would basically do whatever I needed to to get through the pain, (I mentioned The shroom treatment)  He said that was like taking straight LSD, and he directly wrote me prescriptions for imitrex injec, the vials, and tablets, with several refills, gave me some hydrocodone(I didn't even have to ask for it) refilled my oxygen, and gave me samples of Axert.  I tried the axert, but it gave me insomnia so bad, I couldn't sleep at all. No more of that.  Now my only problem is my insurance company.  They wouldn't fill the imitrex prescriptions because I am only allowed 18 tablets a month and 15 injections.  No more until September 9th.  Which is oddly my birthday.  I had to pay $138 for the imitrex, and that will last maybe 4 days.  I can't do that again, if I want to eat this month.  I am going to try to get the doc to call the insurance Co. and override this.  I am feeling a little better than I did last week.  I had to go all weekend without med's and by Sunday morn my husband had to take me to the ER, HA's were coming one after another, and I was exhausted and suicidal.  I feel better since I saw Dr. Bailey, he listened to me, and really believed me. It made a big difference in my whole mental outlook.  I think I might survive the beast this year after all.

I hope you can get the insurance problems worked out soon.  I know how hard it can be to afford the meds when the insurance doesn't want to pay.  Hell... I have enough troubles with the co-pay... LOL  Between doc bills, and meds, we'd all be in the poor house soon.  Tongue

I am so sure that insurance companies don't believe in CH's. sighh. Good luck with the doctor calling them. Even if they say no, keep appealing. You may wear them down in the end.

Oh darn!

One of these days someone like Timothy McVey will get pissed off that his HMO gives him a hard time with his Imitrex.

There was a time folks when people were not afraid to be decent. People were treated individually, even by insurance companies.  Not today. Everything is corporate guidelines and zero deviation.

Darn, Don't ya just hate those fuckin' insurance companies  Cheesy
