I post this because I remember how uplifted I felt when others told us that they had gotten the BEAST on the floor and stomped his head into mush.

I didn’t know if it had ended or not on Saturday, I still had a sore feeling in my right temporal region….. I finally figured out, that the sore feeling was just some bruising I had from whacking myself on the side of my head. Didn’t even notice it before. Go figure!

To test things, I went to bed Saturday night without taking my Maxalt MLT 10mg. I woke up feeling groggy and hung over. I wondered if I was going through Maxalt withdrawal?….I finally figured out that, I wasn’t used to getting 9 FUCKING HOURS OF PAIN FREE SLEEP!!!

So far so good. I went over to my ex-girlfriends house last night, to cook her a birthday dinner, and decided to go for broke. I had a glass and a half of red wine (Raymond, Reserve Merlot, Napa Valley, 1999) that was 10 hours ago and still PF! No shadows (just this weird soreness on the side of my head).

The last test was taken in the form of a long cylindrical plastic tube, similar to what the Caterpillar in “Alice in Wonderland” used, 25 mins. ago. Still PF. I guess my next step is to stare into my halogen desk lamp while, sniffing nitroglycerin, listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s classic rendition of “Feelings”.

I really feel like I’m screwing with fate by posting this, but what the hell.

That’s the good news. As you all know, “Every silver cloud has a dark lining”. The bad news is: I’m staying right here (all my porn site subscriptions have expired, anyway. Thank god I saved Charlie’s little whip bearing M&Ms). I am working on some ideas to raise money for OUCH, and since I, now, am a “Double Card” carrying member, I hope you will look at and evaluate them as if I was a normal person. I will post them soon, it’s just taking me a little while to get my thoughts together. Did the Caterpillar use a computer?

Love you all,

David J.

David, you said the side of your head feels sore. One of my symptoms during the shadows and after the CH is that my temple and where the headache pain was feels "bruised". There is no discoloration or anything, but it feels like a bruise. And if you touch it, it has the same feeling.

Thanks kids.   Kiss   Yea, I’m sill awake on the west coast. Funny, now I can’t get to sleep because I’m so giddy. Not that you need an hour by hour blow count, but I’m still (cough, cough) pain free. I was just telling a friend by email that “I’ve always said that I was one of the lucky ones”. After 16 years of the visits, one thing is clear: When my cycle ends, it ENDS! I can feel the difference. That constant lingering shadow is gone. One cycle it left me in the blink of an eye…..There….Gone.     This cycle, I thought it was done Saturday, but didn’t feel real sure about it. I more like eased out of it. The ultimate test for me is alcohol. In cycle, the smallest amount will, consistently and severely, trigger me; i.e. a non-alcoholic beer or sherry in the carrot chestnut soup. And yes, RobinT, Catipillar dung does it too. (brain expansion).

Pam-ootie—I remember doing that with brassbear at a Dead show in 1740, it does taste great! The Merlot just seems to get extra body, but it does cause an increase in sediment.

Do any other episodics experience that line of demarcation, knowing that it’s over? I hope some people, who might be reading this, and experiencing our unwelcomed visitor for the first time, will take heart in the fact that for some of us, it only lasts 8 weeks. Its always going to be tough, but never give in. Know that it CAN stop. Never give up hope.

Brad's last cycle this time started on a 'DIME'....for two days he refused ta think it was CH agin cuz everone had bad HA's with sinus and infection so he swore that's all it was.....but wham.....he got hit purdy hard after the two day warning....had some beers that really trigger'd em with a vengence. He did everthin wrong this episode.....includeing what he ate (my fault). But wierd thing is I noticed a drastic change in his normal habits several weeks before they hit.....I even warned him I felt they mite come back and he got pissed at me. He had family 'n job stress and kinda started ta tune out by hittin the couch more and drink more......and argue more bout everthin !! Not sure if a better 'chain of events' leadin up to this end of his 3 year PF time woulda had anything what so ever ta do with gettin 'm or NOT......would they of passed him by ? Dunno....but  makes me wonder......Pam  (PS: we have hookah parties round these parts alot.....got a large group of dead head freinds amoung others.....they have smile fests and hookah's and water fests 'n some sorta happy farm parties.....all tied dyed hippie 100 %'rs.....rite down to the volkswagon vans and drum circles ! Pam   ;D

WOW!!!   Great news!

"Do any other episodics experience that line of demarcation, knowing that it’s over?"

I don't know about anyone else, but FOR ME (and don't take this wrong, probably lots that disagree) the end of my cycle is usually marked by a couple pain-free days (and nights) followed by one last stab by the beast.  His last stab is, FOR ME, usually the most viscious, followed only by a couple of days of light shadows.

This cycle (ended in late Oct.) is a little different.  He had his last stab, but the shadows are still out there 2 months later.  Not complaining...   Just have to behave myself.  More than watching how much I drink, I have to control my sleep cycle.  I do this by forcing myself to get to bed at a regular hour.

When I do drink, the hangovers are a little worse than usual... Once again, not complaining!

Great news!   Love to hear when someone else gets to see how blue the sky can really be!

Grant

That sounds exactly like I'm going through right now BC.

Hey DavidJ: 1740 rocked didn't it? The wine was really imported from France, the hookah was from India, and the stuff in it, Well, give thanks to the Shawnee!

Keep on keepin' on!

WOW! What a great feeling! So happy for you!  When my cycle is over I can tell almost immediately.  That constant pain and pressure in my neck and the back of my head just clears away.  That's my sign that I will finally be able to sleep through the night.

A fellow wine lover!  You will understand the following misery.  Although wine does not seem to be a trigger for me (I've often had a couple of glasses and not had a headache that night at all) I generally avoid wine during a cycle - why tempt the beast?  For Christmas this year I received a bottle of: Kenwood Artist Series, Arrowood, Quintessa, '97 Brunello, '97 Campaccio, and a Cutrer Les Pierres.  So for the next month or so I will stare at my wine rack with longing.  Have a glass or two or three or four or... for me.  Enjoy!

Somm / David, thats way cool. Sounds real....... I am joining your club (I hope). For me its been 48 hrs since last ch. Thats a first since mid sept.  Like you I get a little giddy over the thought............. Gonna go search out that tube............. Where I live now they all think I'm talkin about snuff though. The best wine here is MD 20/20, Sherry (aka:good time) lives just down the road,  beer is 3/2,  smoke and whiskey are all home grown.  I allways got a better buzz from the ch. if that says anything.. Its rough in the boonies, cant even get a proper celebration going on... Thank god the city lies only 50 miles up the road.......Now get back to work.
