Title: The Beast is routed?
Post by Lapsi_Harmaahapsi on Dec 21st, 2002, 7:31am
Definitely a weird cycle. I've had more pd's than pfd's when in cycle as long as I remember.

This time I've been "hit" once every 4 days. And the last one (wednesday morning) was actually quite nice. Started at 9:50 and I thought that here we go again. At 9:53 it was still starting. At 10:15 it was still starting.. and at 10:40 it was gone. Never had an attack like that. The pressure was there, my nose was runny, but the pain was just MILD (no dancing, I could actually do some work!).
Started Verpamil last saturday so it probably isn't the cause for so few attacks, but it can be the cause for the last being so mild. I guess my "cold-treatment" experiment could have something to do with it after all. Or not. I guess I'll "know" more next year.. ???

I just wont to add my medications for breaking out of cycle. But remember that i`m not a doc, just another clusterhead from Norway

Verapamil Retard 120mgX5-7/daily during cycle
Oxygene alone at 10ltm for 15 minutes or combined with imitrex-shots does miracles. The shots should start working in 6-9minutes.a few secons after that you are almost painfree
Prednisolone in high doze for 10 days 80mg
then over a 3 weeks periode step down like 60-40-30-20-10-5mg /daily

This is the miraclecure for me,but i`m not a doc.just another clusterhead from Norway

Have you tried this combination ?

Best wishes from Svenn

Aleksi - when I started my Verapamil, what you described is exactly what happened after five or six days. I upped the dosage (with consultation with my doc) and in another three or four days went PF.
Not sure about the frequency of your attacks before the Vera, but I noticed a decrease in frequency and intensity as soon as the Vera was in my system for about five days.
Sounds like you're almost there.
Hang in because it only gets better.

Hanging in is (in Darth Vader's words) "all too easy". :D

This "cycle" consists (so far) of 3 attacks in the last 12 days. Some small shadows. Definitely an improvement over my normal cycles. Weird, but can't really complain  :)

Nice that Verpamil works, that stuff is practically free compared to most meds I've used/seen.
