What a bunch of shit and a waste of time and money that was.... >:(
If we had wanted a sermon on the sins of cigerattes and coffee we would have gone to church. >:(
We went through all Blake's history, drugs, treatments, etc.  The doctor said Blake was a very complicated and extremely chronic case....duh, like we didn't know that.  He said to cut out the cigs and coffee...take the lithium to 900mg, take the verapamil 240 x 2.  I explained that we had already done that and it didn't work.  He acted like he didn't hear me.  I started questioning him on different meds and possible treatments we might try.  He says I can't do much unless he stops smoking and drinking coffee.  I was getting pissed at this point but kept trying to at least get him to consider another med. regime.  He finally says, "Is there anything else?"...I said, "Yes there is....you are FIRED"

My poor hubby is so disappointed but he did say it was lots of fun watching the doc and I go at it (I was being nice for as pissed as I was)....Blake was wondering which one of us was going to draw first blood...  ;D
Some doctors resent informed patients.

I think this guy is related to Dr. Diamond >:(

There ya have it :-/

grrrrrrrrrrrr    >:(

we had a similar experience with a neuro here.  When the doc realized that Mike and I have done a lot of research about clusters, and ESPECIALLY when we had to explain to him what a 'cluster bump' is, the attitude changed drastically.  It's like laypeople aren't allowed to have a brain in their heads.   What?  Is this priviledged information or something?  grrrr.

I'm so sorry you two didn't find relief today, Jackie - we were pulling so hard for you.

You gonna complain about this doc to the powers that be?  I sure would.   ::)

OH MY GOD!!!
I had such HIGH HOPES!!
DAMN!
I get that smoking and coffee drinking thing, no matter WHAT I see a doc for.  Last time I went for Clusterheadaches, I showed him the survery on smokers, and said smoking has NOTHING to do w/ clusters!!!
I'm so sorry you guys :(
What now?

Ya know something, gang......
We are disappointed for ourselves but we're disappointed for you all too.  We had such high hopes that this doctor might know of something that would help Blake and in turn we could share here and help all of you.. :'(

Blake says to tell you all it's another disappointment but we still have this family and each other.  We'll keep on fighting...

Jacks,
That truly sucks the big one!!!   >:(  I can't believe you had to go through that!  Good for you to have fired his ass.  You should have added a big fuck you at the same time! LOL...now that would have gone over well! hehehe
Who referred you to this bozo anyway?  Will you report back to the referring doc?  Someone has to know that this neuro is a dweeb.  What other things are you two considering?

Sending positive vibes your way
Ann

Ann,
You bet I'm gonna tell our GP what I think of this neuro but I asked for the referral because we weren't getting anywhere with our family doctor.  He's a good guy and will work with us so it's back to him.....I'll go armed with info from this site and OUCH and we'll start trying different combinations.....yet again.  We'll give that a couple weeks and then try another neuro ???  I'm not sure where to turn at this point but we'll just keep trying. :P

My poor hubby is pretty depressed especially after yesterdays ordeal.....we're working on that too.  I'm jumping thru hoops trying to keep his spirits up.  I did get a big laugh out of him when I said, "I should go back in there and whoop the shit out of that guy and write him a hot check for the appointment" ;)

This to shall end.... :-[....just wish it would hurry up...

Damn - the frustration continues. I am sorry Blake and you are having such a rough time finding something / someone who can help. There IS a correct combo of meds, and there IS a doc out there who will help you find it. There IS hope that you will find it soon.
Here's wishing a PF Christmas to you and yours.

Damnit... >:(
Sorry the idiot neuro missed his opportunity to redeem the astounding number of ego driven docs.... but you've got some willpower... holding back from beating his ass and all....
Hang in there... there has to be an answer in the midst of all the meds and combos.
(Er, Goofy says hi to Blake... that might make him grin a second or two)
Seriously....Good luck and prayers on your continued search.
Pepper ;)

Jackie: I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with the neuro. I hope you have better luck in the future. On behalf of some of the medical community, I apoligize. I'm an RN myself. I for one appreciate informed patients and their supporters. It makes my job much easier. I believe that one should be involved in their own care. No one knows their problems and what works for them better than they do.

On the other hand, when I was diagnosed with CH recently I CAME TO YOU FOLKS TO LEARN AS MUCH AS I COULD. I had never heard of CH until I was diagnosed.

In way of explanation; I work at a children's home. I do mostly pediatric general clinic care and pediatric psych. I work with kids who have ADD, ADHD, personality disorders, learning disabilities, etc.

I thank my lucky stars every time I find an informed parent and child who understands what is going on with them an is more than willing to assist in their own care.

Thanks to every one on this board for caring about themselves, and more than that, they care for others and are willing to share thier knowledge, express their concern.

BTW today is the first day since Dec. 6th that I've experienced some PF time!

Michael

Michael,
Thank you.....We just didn't hit on a very good neuro this time but we will keep after it... :)  Having dealt with many medical professionals through my Dad's illness, raising 2 sons and Blake's CH, I know this doctor was not typical.  The majority are wonderful, caring and dedicated individuals.

I agree with you that we must educate ourselves and take responsibility for our own care.  However, this 'dude' didn't seem to think much of my knowledge... ::)

Congratulations on your work with children.  It must be heartbreaking at times but also very gratifying. :)

Damn, Darlin', are you so nasty it takes two(2).... ???

I'll tell Blake you said "Wah"........remember he's 6'4" and 200 lbs though... ;D    I'd tell him right now but he took a zomig, put a imitrex shot in his pocket and went to ice fish for a couple hours. Troy went with him....just in case.  I hope he catches a whooper....that would put a grin on his face... :D

We'll be calling........... :-*
