Travelling to Europe with O2

Important for any clusterhead using O2 and travelling to Europe.

It took a little time gathering the info, since my own O2 supplier does not handle this kind of service any more. But they pointed me to the Medidis organisation, that handles O2 delivery in this country and all of Europe (and even many other countries).

They can arrange to have O2 waiting for you at your temporary address or even at the airport. You can have follow up bottles delivered where you stay and even at different addresses if you are touring.

What do they need from you?
The amount of bottles you estimate to be needing {1 metre
(3 ft) tall or the portable ones}
The flow rate in litres per minute. (They go up to 15 lpm.)
Payment in advance. By yourself or by your insurance company.
(I am told many insurers fax them to order O2 for a client).

How long beforehand do you need to order?
Allow some time for the bank payment to go through (or pay cash; credit card payments are apparently extremely expensive).
Within The Netherlands pre-paid delivery can be arranged within 2-3 days.
Other countries may take longer (up to 3 weeks) if there are not that many suppliers.

What will it cost?
If you do not have any insurance, it seems you can still afford it in The Netherlands.
Per bottle (large or small) you pay a filling fee of Euro 11.50; rental amounts to Euro 0.25 per day.
Airport service comes at Euro 136 and ordinary delivery from Euro 35-50, depending on the location.
These are our local prices; they will quote an all-in price for each seperate case.
The Euro stands a bit over 1 dollar at the moment, at least I believe so. Check!

What do I get?
The number and sort of bottles specified, with the proper regulator. (Don't bring your own, they may not fit).
Masks (but bring your own if you need a non-rebreather mask).
Delivery at pre-arranged places and dates.

How do I reach them?
They have a website with an order form at
www.oxygentravelservice.com
Their e-mail is medidis@xs4all
Their phone nr. (from abroad) is  0031-036-5460100
Their fax nr. (from abroad) is 0031-036-5460106
When the office is not staffed, the call is taken by a call centre.
The staff speaks excellent English.

Finally, I have not made use of their services myself, as yet. They were vouched for by my own supplier, however, and I will use them for my next vacation in the UK.
I am very curious to know of your experiences.
