Paigelle ... I'm from Morehead/Newport area ... about 45 minutes from Wilmington. My mom and her family still lives there.
The only "real" snow storm like what Jonny has that I can remember was back in 1980 ... was stuck at my ex-mother-in-laws for 3 days  The snow was halfway up our car .. no way to get out .. couldn't find the road 
I remember a few since then but that is the worse I can remember. You never know, it "could" happen again

I need snow. I keep telling my husband that I would leave the coast in a heartbeat. I am a mountain girl. I love the change of seasons and everything. I don't like this flat land and same season. People here have been wearing winter coats and stuff. I am still wearing just a long sleeve shirt and no coat at all.
How was being stranded with your mother in law? Eeek! I can't be stranded with mine, I would die.

Put it this way ... she was raised in the mountains of Virginia where "Mother Rules the Roost" ... she made the rules and no one went against them or else! .. and I am a very stubborn person that believes that I have a mind of my own (I was also pregnant with my first child then). Needless to say, we butted head quite often in those 3 days and I was SO glad to finally be able to get the HELL out of there!
