Title: Happy New Years All!
Post by Elaine on Dec 31st, 2002, 12:42pm
With the new year come thoughts of new beginnings. Many of us think about  our lives and ourselves and resolve to making change. We make our lists - find a better job, go back to school, buy a house, stop smoking, ... . . No matter if we achieve our goals or not, it seems making new years resolutions is as inevitable as the new year itself.

I'm no different I've made new years resolutions of every kind - some kept, but most forgotten.

While change is part of life and will happen and attempting to better ourselves and our lives is admirable, for me, some of the most positive change has come despite my plans and resolutions, rather than because of them. When I was much younger my plan was to become rich - a millionaire. Everything I planned, every resolution I made, had this objective in mind. The last thing I planned was to get married, but that's  what I did.

My husband and I fought getting married for a long time, seven years we fought it, but we did. The meaning and inspiration our marriage has brought to my life is something I could never have planned or even conceived of at the time I blurted out the words, "yes I will marry you.

With marriage and children came many changes, most of which were never planned. I certainly couldn't have known or planned for what being a wife and mother would mean to me or how this would forever change my life . Over the years my husband has taught me what love really is. Buddy has touched my mind and my heart in ways I could never have even imagined. With him in my life I've traveled down paths I would never have had the courage to go alone. Buddy has brought love, beauty and meaning to my life, and inspires me each and every day to be a better person.

The same can be said for my children. Many plan to have children, but I think few understand just how great they will impact a person's life. My children have brought immeasurable love and joy to my life and have given me direction and purpose. I gain strength from them, faith from their innocence when they were young, and hope from their endless wonder of the world around them. Never could I have experienced the true blessings life has to offer without my children.

I'm still about a million short of being a millionaire and my is quite different than what I had originally planned. All I can say about that is; thank God. My husband, our four children, our grandchildren our life together completes me and, though not quite as I had planned, have made me a rich Lady indeed.

A new year may inspire us to make plans for change, but often it is the unexpected, the unplanned, which brings the most meaningful changes of all.

Happy New Years Everyone!

Chat will be open to one and all tonight and ready to bring in a new year. Plan to be there lets come together as a whole tonight.

Lady E.. :)
You are truly an amazing person to know -  if there's anything I've learned from you its that there's always a reserve of will and strength just when you think you have no more - and that ya just have to be tough!!
I'm so happy that you are loving life and it just seems your world has fully blossomed....For the New Year, may your garden grow brighter, more beautiful and bring you all the peace, happiness and more of the richness that you so deserve.
Happy New Year to you, Buddy and your loved ones.
Love,
Pep ;)

SIS, what a beautiful and true post...I am finally beginning to live again after those 5 months of unemployment and constant pain...having my son, his wife and my grandson here has really made me realize how wonderful and full my life is...my grandson has definetly been a gift from God to me....he has opened up a totally new world for me...I guess the older we get sometimes, the less selfish we get...I no longer think about so much what I want, I am too busy thinking about how to make him happy..And this truly makes me happy!.what a life, me , toby and tristan...I love it....Happy New YEAR and GOD bless you all...smiles, nancyc
