Title: BCS-OK, LSU, & USC
Post by TomM on Dec 11th, 2003, 2:40pm
So, the BCS thinks that LSU and OK should play for the national title and not #1 ranked USC??? WTF, over?

Sometimes I hate the politics in sports.  But yep, it is so true.

WVU's football sucks this year and has for the last few years; however, they usually get a bowl bid because they draw a huge crowd.  Mountaineer fans will pay extraordinary amounts of money to go to a bowl game.  So it really doesn't matter how good or bad they are.

Same is true With Notre Dame.

Sorry Tom, it is against my morals to speak of Notre Dame, plus it makes me want to puke.  To me a good Saturday is when Notre Dame loses!  Then I do a happy dance.

I am finding it hard to believe that USC isn't a bigger market. Or wait are they in the Rose Bowl?

WTF is the Insight Bowl!  The Hokies have rocked this year and they end up in something called the Insight Bowl.  I bet Frank Beamer is shitting his pants.

If USC won all of their games in the regular season they would be playing in the Sugar Bowl, OU has just as much right to be there as USC and LSU... ;;D

Well I hope LSU wins.  But of course USC is in the Rose Bowl with Michigan.  Hope Michigan wins there.

I don't think they will ever treat the football like they do the basketball teams.  Which doesn't make sense.  Since basketball has major playoffs, why doesn't football?  I am sure if they went to the playoff format, the coaches would be angry.  Because we all know that even you have won every game in the season you could lose a playoff game and be booted.

Okay Tom, damn you, I see what you are talking about.  My favorite game was when WVU romped those Hokies.

In going to the ACC they will have to change alot of strategies.  I wonder if Beamer is up for that and I hope he has considered it.  He has talent in his team, but I don't know how many he was going to lose this year.

Strength of schedule vs. what have you done lately?

Top 10 opponents this season

USC = 0, 12-1 overall

LSU  = 0, 12-1 overall

OU   = 2, 1 win, 1 loss, 12-1 overall

Who played the strongest schedule?

Yes we lost, but we lost to a top 10 ranked team.

OU is still #1

Sorry, but K St. was not top 10 till they beat OU.

I agree with a Playoff system, 4 or 8 teams would be easy.
I disagree with the people who say OU doesnt belong in the title game because they didnt win their conference. Not everyone has a conference championship. According to the BCS, OU was in whether they won or lost that game, Do ya think maybe they were a little bit flat? I would have preferred a OU vs USC game, I think it would be a more exciting game. But it aint gonna matter anyways because OU is gonna kick that butt regardless!
