Not much of a wine drinker, but I'm a fan of muscadine wines - its a different species of grape, very fruity flavor.  As far as I know, this grape is only grown across the southern US states. Some wine snobs purists don't like muscadines and will compare them derisively to grape soda, but I think the European grapes have been inbred too long and lost most of their flavor... To each their own.  I also have a few bottles of elderberry mead (homebrew) that I should chill and tap sometime.

Floridian

I like wines made from muscat grapes, is that the same thing?

Wendy

P.S. This aint the most tactful discussion when probably 50% of the people on this site can't drink alcohol!

Muscat grapes are from north Africa and Spain & France.  Their flavor has been compared to muscadines, but there are differences.  But both are 'musky.'
