Title: What we're here for
Post by ave on Dec 15th, 2003, 4:46am
Please... may it be noted that I understand the need to talk about something, anything, when the beast starts to bite, when you are waiting for it to return, when you are recuperating.

So I am NOT knocking your  talking politics or birthdays or whatever. AT ALL.

But I'd like to remind you what this board is about, lest any of you forget...
Go to the Medication message board. Read that long Psilocybin thread,  witness people wrestling the beast, reaching out for help, supporting each other.

Just people, bound together by the same struggle, continents apart and yet so close to each other. To my mind, that is what we are here for...

From what I can tell, everyone here has the same common bond. Cluster Headaches.

Everytime I check aboard is different. Pain, depression, lack of sleep, reaching out to help others, needing laughs, being able to talk to others that understand, new tricks to deal with this problem, to remind myself i'm not in this sutuation alone, hoping to find new remedies to kill the Beast and so on.

Even though I agree that it seems sometimes the board gets out of hand, without all the other bullshit added, the site will be just like an old folks home. Just a bunch of dieing Clusterheads looking for nothing but sympathy.

This site gives me back what little life the Beast has already stolen from me.

In this site I have found not only an outlet for the stress of dealing with CH, but also valuable information that has helped me get medicine and a better understanding for my friends and family.  I believe when the general posts are not CH related it is okay, because we need a break from thinking about them. We know we can new info and support here, but we also know we can have our friendship.  The general posts are such a range from dealing with CH to crazy stuff, like Jonny naked in the snow.  It is good to have that, because if we don't have something to laugh about, we will curl up and die.

Even though the posts about politics can sometimes get out of hand...it does make for good reading. Also it helps sufferers & supporters get things off their chest. Which is very important when dealing with this type of pain.

True...I wouldn't want CH.com delegated to a normal message board, but keep the (every once in a while ) fun, political, & rant's messages coming.

Thats the good thing about the new boards. People who want to talk about meds can post on that board people who want to talk about any and everything can talk on the general boards. I don't think any of us forget why we are here and what we should do.
I do my supporting mostly through email. I think sometimes it is easier for people to open up through email. I think the reason this board is so well known is because DJ lets us talk about what ever we want here.

I come here for the clusterbabes, to avoid useful work and to see my name in print.

I do not like :
1. People who try to end threads because they don't like them...funny thing is...they bump the thread to the top each time they post.
2. People who write xmas instead of CHRISTmas.
3. People who try to control the board in any way.
4. Censorship
5. Mustard on anything
6. Jonny

Love

Here, Here...if you don't believe in the "Christ" part...then why the ffffff are you celebrating "Christmas".

Uh oh...here's one of those "rants" they were talking about. :o

Well that makes the point loud and clear.  I will take my xmas spirit and stories and keep them off the board.

So much for tolerance.

Happy Hanukkah, Kwaanza, for the Japanese - enjoy the Oseibo, for the Chinese - Happy Chinese New Year and fun with Dun Che Lao Ren, for Buddhists - enjoy the Feast of Vesach, for Muslims - a peaceful Ramadan, for Egyptians - the celebration of Shamm an-Nasim, for Iranians - the celebration of Noruz, and on and on.

For those with Christ in your life Merry Christmas, for those who have other, equally powerful beliefs, Happy Holidays, whatever your celebration may be.

I personally will keep my faith in Santa Claus.

Cat

I don't mind the board talking about other stuff.  It's a nice break, but it's true this board is here for CH, and I do find it a little offensive when a new person starts a thread that is related to CH and gets responses like the following. :o

-ARCHIVES ARE HERE FOR A REASON!!!!
-OH CHRIST!!!...NOT AGAIN
Ya see where ya see "Search" (right below "Message Board" ) at the top of this page?    Click on that, enter a word, go down to the bottom, specify how many days you want to go back, and how many results!   It isn't rocket-science!
You know who you are. ;)
Real supportive I must say.  Oh and real welcoming for the new people.  Anyway, I'm tough and will still stick around.

Just read Ave’s disclaimer but I’m gonna post this anyway:

I do wonder if sometimes we don’t scare away people who aren’t sure what kind of headache they have. We know that we’re so nice that we nearly make ourselves sick but lets not give migrainers a hard time. They rarely need a push to go away.

When someone shows up with questions or posts for the first time, we usually bomb them with good information and ideas. When called upon, we do well. When not, I get my chance to be childish and I can be as big a jerk as anyone. I have to hold up my end of the of the commie-socialist spectrum too.
