As a chronic, mine have been right sided only for the last ten years.  During that time, I had attacks on the left side maybe 5 times at most.  In December 2003, they have switched to the left side and have remained there to date.  I have also been getting hit much harder than "usual".

A few years ago I was having a CH and I stood in front of the mirror and watched it switch sides.  The redness drained out of the right side of my face and on to my left.

Mine have always been on the left side, but I have only had CH for seven years.  All good things come to those who wait.

Yeah, I don't even want to think about watching that happen.  I'm kind of sort of used to having them on the left side.  Sounds like something out of that movie The Exorcist.  Your head spins around three times and then you watch it switch sides just before you have green projectile vomiting.

No, it's not a headache--it's a Stage Ten Primary Chronic Periodic Idiopathic Trigeminovascular Cephalalgic Crisis.

No, I haven't seen the new version but oddly enough a friend mentioned the stair scene last night--I had never even heard of it.....

Indeed I've experienced the swithcing side phenomenon.

I've suffered from CH for a little over 3 years - having daily attacks for 3 weeks every 3rd month. So the episodes come on a pretty regular basis.

Usually the beast strikes on the left side. But about 3-4 times on each series I get the attacks on my right. At times I have even tried having first one attack on the left. Then 4-5 hours later an attack on the right. But I've never tried the switching during an attack.

Cheers,

Chris

I have only had it switch sides mid-pain once in my life. it was such a strange feeling. the pain just went from right to center then left.   I always get them on the right side.

Mine have not only switched during a cycle, but even during a ha. It was not fun as the new side was a renewed experience in pain.

Hi there, last time I had a switch I ended up in the hospital due to the right swithing to left. It impaired my ability to speak , walk, talk. My neuro explained that when a cluster affects the left side your motor skills are impaired. One of the scariest experience I have had. Unfortunately it happens . Undecided
