Toronto is Cold

Quote Quote Modify Modify

Well, settled in Toronto, finally internet access in my apartment.  Nice city, but freakin cold!

Pokin around the board I see that some things have not changed: Jonny is still king.  On the other hand, when did ch.com become a p0rn site?  Just wondering.

I love this site, all y'all, and am happy to be back.

Glad to see you settled in the Dominion(pol. correct?).  Yeah, Toronto doesn't participate in the Gulf Stream Alliance, but it actually misses getting a lot of snow due to its location on Lake Ontario; you'll be able to get a "aren't we lucky" view of it all if stateside pictures from Buffalo get broadcast.  Wink

I rearranged your quote a bit Casey to perhaps make things clearer.    Grin    What, did you kinda get stuck on that thread a while, it's the only one you've mentioned viewing.    Cool

I know it's cold but take heart. You get less snow than Western New York.

Glad you settled down Casey.

Well, you had to have gotten a clue to the weather when ya found out all the parking garages are underground.  My first visit to Toronto (really a great city) was Christmas, 69 or 70.  Windchill was 40-50 degrees BELOW ZERO.  Will get 12 degrees (temp, not wind chill) tonight here in the hills of Tenn, and that's cold enough for me.
You a pool player?  Go to the Brunswick lanes and check out their pool room.  6'x12' snooker tables in Canada . . . . like playing on a putting green.
Hope to visit again one day.  Spent pleasant hours on several trips at the (must see) Ontario Science Center and one of the (three, four?) horse tracks.

Kevin, No comment...  Notice though, there was no complaint in my post Grin  And thanks for helping me make more sense.  My brain is frozen.

And, it is so cold that I seriously think that I froze some kind of muscle or tendon or whatever is in there that connects my ear to my head when I was walking outside yesterday.

Casey:  here's some advice for you.  Get yourself a toque and a big cuppa Timmy's.  These things are in every self-respecting Canadian's winter survival kit.  Trust me on this one. Wink

Hope to see you over at our board one of these days, too.  Grandma is planning a get together in T.O. in the new year.  Try to make it there!  Smiley

and, Kevin?  um, no - we're not a "dominion" anymore.  But I think the Queen is coming to Edmonton next year.  Does that count?

we're a balmy 9° degrees C here in Calgary.  That's, what....50°F.  Not a drop of snow here out west.  Casey, maybe you picked the wrong end of the country?

*ducking and running from Grandma now.

Margi - that's not even fair.  50 degrees!  Oh well, we haven't any snow yet but it's getting colder.

Poor Casey - ya ain't seen nuthin' het bud - wait until the mayor calls in the army to remove the snow!

We're getting some good response to our meet n greet for Toronto in the new year.

If any of y'all south of the border want to brave the elements and drive up to meet with us in January sometime, please let us know.

God's truth - a few years ago - Toronto got a huge dump of snow and in a city that size, it pretty much came to a screeching halt so the then mayor called out the Canadian Forces to clear the snow.  Poor bugger was a laughingstock over that one!

Don't be pickin' on our Canadian Army - we all know it cold be greatly improved if our boys at the top would just spend some $ on them.

In the meantime, why don't you come to Toronto and see for yourself?  Are ya scared of a little cold weather? Grin
