Cat's husband, Clark, just called, and he said Cat has been admitted for overnight observation for aschemia (really not sure that's spelled right)....another description is artery spasms.  He thinks she'll be ok, but they don't know for sure.  

She isn't able to receive phone calls, so we'll just have to wish our vibes to her.  I think, with all she has been through this week, she could really use some more good thoughts and well wishes.  We want her well as quick as possible.

You're right Deb....her Mother and Grandmother were both in the hospital for their hearts, and while Cat was running them back and forth and chasing kids (and Clark...lol), she was having chest pains the whole time.  It finally caught up with her, and Clark made her go in and get checked out today.  That's when they admitted her to the hospital.

I'm so sorry to hear about Cat, some people don't catch any breaks. I will be praying very strongly for her. I may even get my daughter to pray for her. God *has* to listen to a three year old, right?

Just talked with Clark on the phone.  Cat is still in ICU.  Her chest/heart is doing good, but they can't get her head and nausea under control.  The hospital didn't even have imitrex on hand....Clark had to go home to get some for her...... >:(.

I have the number for the nurses station, and they are going to let me talk with her when she wakes up......I'll let ya'll know as soon as I do.

The most common ischemia is a narrowing of the arteries leading to the heart (can cause heart attack), or arteries leading to the brain (can cause stroke). Imitrex is not recommended in either case:

I hope Cat's doctor knows she is using Imitrex in the ICU and not just doing it on her own.

Just talked to Cat, they cut her loose.....and, she and the family are headed back to Omaha tomorrow.  She's tired and worn out, but doing much better.  She sends her love to everyone, and said to say "THANKS" to all of ya'll.

Must have been the good vibes that got her out this fast..... :)

Wow glad Cat is outa the hospital and doin better....see what good cat vibes can do ! Wasn't imitrex and issue for her before cuz of the heart deal goin on and they didn't prescribe it till recently. Be careful and be well cat !! Pam with the furball kitty cat vibes

One of these days remind me to tell you the REST of the story.

A 13 hour drive home from Ontario to Omaha and Clark took me straight into the ER here because of more chest pains.  That turned into an absolute nightmare from the twilight zone.  Can you say IV Nitro?  AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH.

Anyway I'm home now and hopefully the nightmare is over, it was not my heart - well it was but it's not, at least that's the gist I got from the doc here.  Who the hell knows.  

Bottom line is I'm home and I feel fine other than the bruises from needles and IV's and fights with hospital staff, yes fights, long story.

I will see you all in Iowa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND BOY DO I NEED TO GET DRUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(alcohol induced CH ain't nothing like a nitro induced CH)

I can vouch for the nitro induced hits!!!!  I think I sometimes wait too long to take the nitro just because I know what is in store for me once I do!  Those that question a clusterhead taking nitro, remember this, which condition will kill you?

You MUST have had a horrible experience.  I am so sorry Cat.  

Have they given you anything else to prevent the ischemia?  Do you use O2 at home for ch?

I wasn't the one worried about dying, the doctor was a bit nervous for a long while after he gave me the nitro, but I was just fine...it was his life he was playing with!
