Title: Gotta love winter....
Post by Redd715 on Dec 21st, 2004, 8:17am
I'm going to have to call in absent to work today.  Not due to the flu, or to the ole' head, but because I can't get out of my freaking parking lot!!!

It's almost as if the weather Goddess decided I needed a mental health day and puts enough snow down overnight that I can't even back out of my parking space without the tires spinning, let a lone try to break threw the blockade at the end of the driveway left by the city plows.   Just great huh?

Let it snow ...Let it snow... Let it snow????

hahaha, what'd you get in town?  we got 7 inches out here, and now it's freakin snowing again. ::)  I just watched Lily get on the bus, I wonder if school will get out early again today, like it did yesterday for her.  Our snowblower is shot, seems as if a mouse nest got built in it, and might have chewed up the wiring.  Hubby had to ask his brother to plow us out.

Supposed to get 2 more inches!  THEN whattya gonna do? LOL

;;D

Depends on what end of town you are in Mel.  I would have to say a good 8-9 inches here so far.  Can we say this gives a new meaning to the words...Slip and Slide.

Redd, my grandaughter lives in Stevens Point. She's from the desert and it's only her second year up there. She hated her first winter there. I'll have to call her and see what she thinks about the snow.

Went out in my jammies and took a pic of the dump.  Looks like the smurfs were here spreading their cheer...

The blue fog you see, is more snow falling.  Don't know why my camera started taking blue pictures, I guess it can't handle too much white, lol.

Fa la la la la, la la la la... 8)

p.s. Stevens Point is my hometown, born N raised.  Used to live on College Ave, 2 blocks from the University.:)

Looks like we're next on the snow fairy's route for a white Christmas here in MI.

I'm going to plan ahead and start my Christmas shopping.

No fair!!! Being 2 hrs south of ya Redd means we got nothin' ... nada ... zilch in the way of snow. (Well actually just a dusting overnight, but that's gone already) Not that it matters anyway, I don't have time this week to go outside & play ... it's Christmas cheesecake time at our house. :)

Now THAT song brings tears to my eyes.....the good kind. That's "our song."
First song Jim and I danced to at our wedding........and many, many times after. :)

Love pics, Mel. Glad I'm not the only one still  in my jammies when the bus comes. :)

Beautiful pics, mel. Almost makes me miss a real winter. When it snows here, it melts within hours. Then I think about Pegg having to dig the car out and I think... I LOVE THE SUNBELT! My kids would sure have a blast in it... the only snowmen they've made this year were only about a foot tall. :-/

Forecast high here today.....54 degrees F.

So much for a white Christmas.   ::)

Great pics, Mel. I love pictures of snow. Consider switching your digital to B&W. The Contrast is sooo much better, IMHO. [Right Paul?]

Redd--the great thing about shoveling snow in my neck of the woods is it becomes a neighbor thing. We all pitch in and help each other....then we have beers in front of the fire place...maybe play some scrabble.

the snow makes everything black and white anyway!
so it adds a little drama and timelessness to it.

Nice pics, Next friday i'm going on a holiday in snowy country.

The Blue pics may come from a setting, have you set it to indoor light? Or you may have a personal white balance set.

Mel-  those pictures make me nostalgic for home.  Northern lllinois will always be home to me.....I miss the damn snow.  We are supposed to get 1-3 inches starting late this afternoon/tonight, so because our weathermen are morons, that means either NO snow or 9-12 inches - I am hoping for the latter - Colin is so excited about the prospect of a little white stuff!

They don't even sell the studded tires here anymore, and iffin I could find a set, I don't even think they are legal anymore??

Maybe someone else have more insite to this.

to add:

Wisconsin

No

Nov. 15 - April 1   Studded tires are allowed on authorized emergency vehicles, vehicles used to deliver mail, and school buses.

Studded tires are allowed on automobiles with out-of-state registrations (only if such automobiles is in the course of passing through the state for a period of not more than 30 days).

Peg, that sucks.

I hated putting those damn studded tires on my classic 67...but it really DOES make a difference in the traction.

Got shovel?

We got dumped on with also, super windy too. Got stuck in my backyard at 6:30 this morning. I own 3 4-wheel drive vehicles, my wife and daughters drive them. I get the Tempo, hooooray. At least I don't have to run around pulling them out of snow banks. A high of -8 F predicted for wednesday, another big hoooray. I'll be freezing my ass off.

Mel, my digital camera took wierd blue pictures for a while and then it died.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.

Studded tires tear up the pavement.

The only way to learn to drive in that sh!t is by practice!

Have fun,

I love the snow pictures.  As a kid I wished I lived where it snowed but now I’m much too old to adjust to cold weather.  At least it gets cold at night here but the daytime 70F weather just doesn’t seem like the proper Christmas picture.  Oh well, there is a nice NW swell coming so I guess it will be surfing on Christmas again.

Really nice pics mel!!!  I miss the snow, especially at Christmas.  Had more than my share growing up and again for a few years in MI.  Wish my kid could wake up to a white Christmas in her own house.  Oh well, instead of shovelling snow I'll shovel dog shit.  At least myback won't hurt and  toes won't get cold.
