My car was just stolen!!! I can't believe it! I had Christmas gifts in it!!! I ran into a store to get cigarettes and it was gone, it took all of about 1 min. Word to the wise.... do not leave your car running AT ALL. mother fucking son of a bitchin sleeper.

OH shit!!! :o That really bites Beth...you have full coverage insurance I hope. Thay should cover the gifts, as well as the car. That really sucks, sweetie.... >:( :( >:(

I have coverage (thankfully) but damn!!!!!!!! 3 days before christmas!!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME! Its just a hyundai, hopefully they will leave it somewhere. I feel so violated. >:( >:( >:( >:(

That BLOWS. I had a car that was stolen twice. Be tough on the insurance guys. Always say no to their first proposal. It's always negotiable. Don't forget that.

Thank God you still have the cigarettes!

I know you want your contents back, but believe me you DO NOT want them to recover your car. The last thing you want is to get your car back after a bunch of car thieves have run it to death for a few days.

They'll soon come back with a more sensible figure.

LOL! I has a car stolen, I got paid off by insurance and then got a call from the police department. Turns out they ran out of gas in it and left it at the curb. Even though it was reported stolen the place it was parked had no parking 1 day a week for street cleaning. I got 3 tickets on it (3 weeks worth) and had to go to court to fight the tickets. The car was still perfect and I bought it back for 1/2 of what it was worth. Then it was stolen again used in a car chase after a robbery and they got away from the cops. I got called up as it was again parked in a no parking zone. I guess during the getaway they crashed into a curb at high speed and wasted the entire rear end, This time I let it go. A bad karma cara.

I won't assume that I know anything at all about the U.S. vehicle insurance but here in Ontario - the vehicle is one type of policy and those gifts inside would be another and subject to whatever deductible you have on your homeowner's or tenant's policies. Will your insurance cover the car if you've left it running with the keys in it?

Actually I'd like to know how that works down there.

I'm sorry about your car Bethany. I agree you likely won't want it back. I hope you're covered by a company that treats their claimants in good faith.

If you do, change the locks immediately. If your vehicle registration is in the car they know your address.

It's a double edged thing, Bethy-Poo. Sure, your car was stolen........but consider.........the car thief was so down on his luck, so distraught with life, he resorted to stealing a fucking Hyundai.

Dam.........what a crock a shit gettin yer car stolen esp with gifts in it......after fighting the crowds I'd think stealin gifts from someone that 'shopped' to get them should be a felony in itself. Yeah......change your locks at home......amazeing how theifs are out there "jus waiting" like that. I lock my truck in my own driveway and never ever leave the keys in it....not even to wash it. Sorry about the gift (Okay, the car, too). Never let your guard down. Take the keys, lock the door, mount a remotely detonated explosive device under the seat in case it happens again! Good luck with insurance co. Hugs from the hills!

Beth, that sucks so bad... Everyone else has given out great advice, so I'm just passing along some sympathy. A buddy of mine had his Jeep stolen from right in front of his house, in broad daylight, about two months ago. He had a couple hundred dollars of tools in it, and the Jeep itself had been completely tricked out as a rock-crawler. That thing is gone... :(

I'm glad you weren't in it when they decided to commit their crime, and glad to see you are safe.

In New Jersey...it's actually against the law to leave your car running. Summons offense. Even just to warm it up on a cold winter morning...[smiley=huh.gif]

I lock my car everytime I leave it.

Thanks everyone... no news as of yet. I just keep thinking of things and making a list as to what was in the car. I feel so stupid, seriously. My dad read me the riot act. Well, if one thing came out of this, its that I'll never do it again.

He did get my house keys, but Im changing the locks. I thought of that the second the car was gone, hes going to steal my c-mas presents at home or better yet, just break into the house and kill me or something. Luckily, I wasnt hurt or anything.

not a very nice person got my imitrex kit w/2 shots. Fucker >:(

If you have a garage door opener remote in the stolen car re-program the opener too.

I don't think any contents are covered in your auto policy, at least not mine. That's usually the domain of your homeowners' policy.

Be a pest and call. They need to know you're not a pushover. You pay your policy dues... NOW IT'S THEIR TURN!!!!

Similar story was on the news yesterday here in Vegas. A car was stolen from a families driveway. The car had the kids Christmas presents in it. Two of the kids in the family are deaf. Their hearing aids were in the car. It is a special kind of deafness where they cannot hear at all. They have implants under the skin against the skull and wear a special hearing aids the transfer sound vibrations to the skull. Each hearing aid cost $6,000.

Inviting a felon? Jeez. I invite the felon to come over here so I can kick his a$$. But then I would probably go to jail for that. I think the justice system is pretty screwed up.
