Hi Svenn

Is that what is called the Northern lights; it looks something like what we call the southern aurora that can be seen mainly from the southern parts of Australia.

Kind Regards
Barry

That's a hell of a picture Svenn. I'm jealous.

What we see of them is just fuzzy blur when it's visable at all.

Thanks buddy. Maybe it's a sign good things for you.

Thanks Svenn,

Great pic. Saw the northern lights once (1980 in Alaska). It remains one of the awesome, unforgettable experiences in my lifetime. In 4 years there, it was the only  perfect night with no wind, no rain and no chill. Crew happy, laughing and joking. The sea was perfectly calm (which never happened before or after, and therefore a great mirror). Two tugboats on the way to the Indian Ocean pulled in to rest (very exotic, us being miles from anywhere). And THEN... the northern lights came out and danced.

Omigod, I get chills thinking about it now. Perfection. Everything coming together at precisely the same moment. Nobody said a word, didn't have to. One of the few moments in life when you realize the question we all ask "why am I here" has a genuine answer.

Thanks for the memory jog,

Jon

Helen, my dad lived in Yellowknife for many years - the Northwest Territories is a beautiful area.  I was born south of there, Fort St. John, B.C., and I remember as a little girl seeing the Northern Lights on a regular basis.  I also remember them making noise - kind of a static noise.  It's hard to explain but it does happen.  It's not really a noise you can hear, exactly - more a noise you can feel.  And, no, I wasn't smoking anything at the time! Wink  It's a crackling noise - kind of like when you get a spark on your finger when you touch something.

Love our northern lights - they are breathtaking.  Dancing, singing lights! Jon, I know what you mean about getting the chills.  They truly are spectacular! Smiley
