Global Cluster Headache Database
Some Available Cluster Headache Statistics and Surveys

(Please see also: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=chspecific;a ction=display;num=1126505637 )

There is some quite interesting stuff which can be found with the search engines at Blackwell-Synergy.com   http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/search/advanced  and at JNNP. There is more to find at Blackwell-Synergy.com, but if you want to read the full story, they want money. JNNP is free but does not have as many articles as Blackwell.
JNNP Online - Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry

Here is my ‘Best Off’ so far:

Features involved in the diagnostic delay of cluster headache
J A van Vliet, P J E Eekers, J Haan and M D Ferrari for the Dutch RUSSH study group

The Netherlands have about 16 Million inhabitants. The survey was send to ALL Dutch GP’s and to ALL Dutch neurologists. They got about 2000 questionnaires filled in by the patients in return. “Linear regression analysis was used to test relations between two continuous variables.”  – Yes, that is one of the things I would like to see being used on the Global Cluster Headache Database. Once all the data is gathered let the computer work to find out if there are any relations we may not know yet. E.g.: Does treatment ‘X’ only work for patients who trigger on ‘A’?

Good point, who has not seen useless questions in a questionnaire yet? And it is very important to make sure that the questions are very well understood by the patients.

Please let me know, if I have overseen any important article and/or if you know of any important study which was not mentioned above .

Summary:

“The need for statistical evaluation of various aspects of Cluster headaches is documented by the variety of surveys which already exist.” … “Do we have one with a sound scientific background yet?” – Yes, we have some (see above). But maybe we have just too many of them. It is a patchwork of valuable work which has been done. I think we have to re-start from scratch, but the available data will not be lost.
