I've seen so many replies to ppl asking if they have Clusters. It seems just about every one starts out saying we are NOT doctors and CAN'T tell you if you have Clusters. Then in the same sentence the same person goes on to say that doctors don't know squat to listen to us. ?????

In my opinion, doctors listen to you symptoms then leave the room and read a book listing all headache types. They then come back and say yours sounds like Clusters or whatever headache matches their book.

Obviously the CAT, MRI etc., must be checked to rule out other problems, but who better would know than the ppl who actually have Clusters ?

That's why it's so important to go armed with information and your own journal of HAs. Type (one-sided), duration, intensity, etc.. Unless you're seeing a specialist who is familiar with CH, then you're right . . . and they can only treat you for what they are familiar with. It's up to you to give them enough information to accurately diagnose......and treat your pain.
Average doc visit is 10 min. You have to make the most of it. . . . . especially if you are in the position (as many here) of educating your doc. The info is here . . . use it!

I think the big disclaimer is all about CYA for the individual and for this board. Yes, there is a big disclaimer on the front door, but not everyone comes in through the front door. As far as the second part of the question - if you're a doc, the truth hurts, eh?

Leave the room and read a book to figure out a diagnosis? That's exactly what my doctor did - well he actually read something on the internet, but the concept is the same. Luckily for me, the diagnosis was CH straight out of the box.

Another question: We live with this disease/disorder/condition/whatthefuckever everyday. We have more clusterheads here than anywhere else in the world talking about their experiences daily. We have more information here than anywhere else in the world. We have some seriously good researchers that are members here that regularly post information and updates on meds and treatment options. Why is it when someone here tells a person that their symptoms do not sound like clusters do they get all upset and want to pitch a bi+ch?

Once my current doc read CH.Com, she quit tickling my feet, and stopped looking for signs of a stroke.
Thats not to say I didnt enjoy her touch, but she finially got the picture of a CH'ers reason to visit the office.
Need drugs------not inspections.
