Well, I'm glad that the beast didn't run you off when you got to see it for the first time, thanks for being there for your husband, you supporters all kill me, you think that there's nothing you can do........just being there and trying to understand and wanting to help....is SOMETHING........ at least in this sufferer's eyes...... Glad to have you aboard.

Welcome aboard Toni!

You will see over time that you are not helpless at all in your situation.  CH sucks, CH without a supporter...

Welcome Toni,

I'm kinda like your husband in wanting to be alone when one of these monsters hit.  It is comforting to me to know that my supporter understands and is willing to do anything to help me during these attacks.

Welcome Toni,

For a sufferer, just knowing there is someone out there who understands and cares is ALL we need sometimes.

Thanks for being there with him and with US.

Hi Toni and welcome - but sorry you had to come here

I'm new to the family too (only a few days - my partner found the site for me) but already feel like part of the family and that this is the place where I belong.

Lots of folks have already said it, but I feel that it can't be said enough - by being there for your husband you are helping the best way you can.  As a sufferer I am only too aware that there is nothing physical that my partner can do to stop the pain (although she is there to give me my sumo injection if I can't do it myself).  What I find I need most from her is her!  It really helps me to know that she is there next to me, even though sometimes I'm not even aware of her.  It may sound selfish but to suffer all that pain alone is a pain in itself, to have someone you love even hold your hand can give you so much more strength, strength enough to fight the beast, a fight you know you can win - not for yourself but for her also, because that beast is not shy in handing out pain - she hurts too, not with my pain but with her anguish at seeing me suffer.  Without my partner I wouldn't fight, I would cry and scream so much more both outside and in, when the darkness comes and the beast appears nobody wants to face it alone.

Well done you!

Hi Toni,
Welcome to chville. Supporters like you keep clusterheads like me alive. But don't be surprised if you get told to "go away and leave me alone". That's the beast talking and not your guy. My wife (45+ years) learned that lesson fast and would quickly go into hiding when I'd start to dance with a 10 so I understand "helpless". Stick  around, post anywhere (here is probably the best) and learn. BTW, do join OUCH, this board was where OUCH was born as is growing every day. Visit us at chlusterheadaches.org.

welcome helpless,
Sorry to hear about your husbands CH's. Yes, when i have a kip8 or 9 i feel totally drained and the wife tells me that i'm pale afterwards.

I'm usually down for the count when the pain get easy enough to lay down. My wife has learned to stay here distance but be there for me if i need her. I'm sure i'm not a very nice person when the BEAST is at it worst.

I'm sure your husband appreciates you very much for being there.

HUGS AND KISSES TO YOU THE SUPPORTER

Hello Toni

welcome and yes some times you feel very drained after having a cluster. I like it quite even after getting hit just to put myself back together.

you really should change your name to angel being a supporter it one of the hardest job you will go through.

wishing your husband PF      tari

Welcome and hearing from you and the other supporters is terrific. Sending you two links. One to a description of this horror and worth copying for others and a technique that worked for me:

Hi Toni,

Glad you found us.  We need good supporters.  No there really isn't much you can do while he is being hit other than for him to know you are there and you care.  For the most part my wife tries to leave me alone when getting hit which is what for the most part is what I need.  Other times she is just there and if I am able to be still enough she holds me. I usually don't want to be around anyone cause it makes them feel bad seeing me.  I figure one of us hurting at a time is enough. ;;D

I know this doesnt fit together very well.  I'm getting hit right now and trying to work through it.
