Title: New and confused
Post by rextangle on Feb 10th, 2004, 11:07pm
Hi guys,

It's amazingly sad to read all these posts, yet they're all familiar. The pain is horrible.
I gave up on all the OTC meds. They're poop!
I stopped drinking alcohol. Not that I had a drinking problem or anything, but everytime I'd have a beer, BANG!!! You know what happens...

I'm interested in trying oxygen before I put any other chemicals in my body. But I don't know the first thing about it. Where do you get it? How much does it cost?
Do you need a prescription for it?
I don't have insurance.
Lately my CH have increased in intensity and length.
My right eye shuts down and tears up.
I hate this, I hate this, I hate this....
It's ruining my life at this point.

My wife has been wonderful trying to calm the pain down with massages on my back and succeeded a few times. But I need RELIEF!!!
Please help!

Thanks to all, and wishing you and end to your pain,

Rex

SHIT, Rex!  Sorry you are having such a hard time!  We ALL know what you are going thru.  We have been there!

Oxygen (O2) is a God send!  It is the main thing that has kept most of us anywhere near sane (although, in my case, I am too nucking futs to have it help my mental state!).  On the left side, those are buttons.  Click on the one that says oxygen info, as that should give you almost all that you need to know.  Yes, you do need a prescription for it.  Cost vary greatly around the country.  I pay $18.00 for a refil on my large tank, and $15.00 for my portable ones.  My insurance does not cover it.  But when you use it, make sure you follow the instructions there.  If it is done wrong, it will not work.  Also, slap on the O2 as SOON as you feel one coming on.  Don't get frustrated if it does not work all the times, to me, ANY that it works for, is a plus!  Also, if it does not work for you in the beginning, do't give up on it.  Chat with one of us, and we will go over the proper application and make sure you are doing it properly.  We WANT to help you!

Also, a free (or almost free) treatment is the button on the left, water X 3.  Try it, it helps many of us.

Sorry you have to be here, but glad you found us.  Keep us informed as to how you are doing.

Welcome aboard!
Chuck

Rex,

Welcome to the board.

Chuckie poo pretty much answered your questions.

Just a couple of things I thought I would mention. Alot of folks here use melatonin with success.  It's not real expensive and it is otc.  Also you might try benadryl at night.  It pretty much keeps you from REM, which is usually when the beast likes to visit.

However, there are limits to both of these OTC meds.  If you go and read the other posts, you will find some info about this.  You can see what amounts work for different folks.  Unfortunately, not everything works for all of us.

Glad you found your way to this site.  Stick around and you'll learn alot and make alot of friends.

You're not alone in this.........we are here, and willing to help should you need it.  Usually someone here 24/7.

Also, there is a supporter's area, should your wife decide to post also.  We have some great supporter's here.

PF vibes,

Jean

Welcome, I have tried oxygen bout do not seem to get the results alot of other folks get. If I were you I'd try it all. It is always good to know what will work and have a back up if need be. Get yourself introduced to Imtrex. It is the Cluster Removing God.

Hi RexT.
I am a new bee too. I also am not crazy about bombarding my body with all the chemicals. A few weeks ago I went to the health food store and bought a bottle of 100% lavender. It is very strong smelling and can burn the skin, so proper application is important. I choose to use a cotton ball and put on a few drops then add water to the cotton ball. I apply to the temples (my CH on the right too ) and to the inside of my wrists. sometimes if the neck pain is severe I will apply to tight muscles too. Lavender is an herbal relaxant, it also causes drowsiness. 2 times now it has actually retarded my pain. And if I inhale the scent when the shadow appears it works as a pain preventative. At $11.00 a bottle it is a cheep try......... good luck to you PF thoughts....... dodie

Welcome, sorry you have to be here.  Read all you can here.  Hope you find relief soon.  BTW, have you had an MRI or CAT scan done?  Just to rule anything else out.  Just a suggestion.  Sounds like CH to me by what you described, but there are other very serious conditions that can be causing this as well.  Good luck and PF vibes to ya.
Andrea
