Title: Another slap in the face of catch 22
Post by davidbarnes on Mar 9th, 2004, 4:20pm
Hi, my name is David, 51years old

As my father-in-law said when I asked for his oldest daughters hand in marriage...'Well hell yes son, misery loves company'...with that said, this site has really helped my wife understand what we have been dealing with for about 15 plus years.

This is about the 7th week of this cycle and I needed my oxygen replenished. The company told me I had already exceeded the prescription limit for the time period concerned. And needed to go back to the doctor and get another prescription. Slap! Money circle catch 22

Wellllllll, I checked out the welding oxygen vs. medical oxygen and bought my first welding set today. I own the tanks, regulators and a refill on the O2 is $10.50 for 4 foot med. tank. As opposed to $20 for the little E-tanks from the med. supply. I am not recommending anyone else do this. I just got a little bit fed up with the run around between O2 supplier and doctor.

After I get over this cycle I think I will take a vo-tech course and learn how to weld...lol. I mean I've got the stuff.

I am rambling...just got over 4th or 5th bout today. Kind of brain dead.
Thanks for being .............

Glad you found a way around the prescription hassles. Just DO NOT mention to the welding supply what you're really doing with the 02. They might cut you off.

Welcome to the board.

one of the gals here in Vegas used to fill the tanks for her husband and told them that she made jewlery. So always have a story to tell...

Sorry you had to find us, but Glad you did. Tell your wife to log on and talk to the people in the supporters page. They are a great help.

Pain Free Wishes to you,
Tiannia

Hi David....

Welcome to Clusterville!

Sorry that you suffer with CH.  Looks like you have things under control.

This is a great  place to hang out.  Lots of support and some great folks here.  You can cry, whine, bitch and moan all you want......and we will be right here to listen and help in any way we can.

By all means, have your wife join in.  We have lots of great supporters here.....she will learn alot about how others deal with CH.

Best wishes....and PF vibes,

Jean

Okay, I am here.  David has had four to five pretty long cycles during the last 15 years, so guess we have been lucky to some extent.  Going into the seventh or eighth week now and we are probably too tired and spent to support some-one else right now...though things look like they might be easing off.  Miss being able to watch the grandson as much as usual, but just can't do that right now.

I am also tired of medical people who don't know the problem, don't learn the problem, won't give enough supplies, and almost act like we are drug seeking.  And I am a nurse.  Have had to get fairly nasty with a couple of those people, and that is not my nature.

Anyway, am glad we found the site.  Will be looking on the section for family support as you suggested.  Looks like a bunch of people here that are willing to share what they have learned.  I appreciate you.
