Hey All, I'm Lisa.

Ive been suffering with these horrific headaches for almost a year now, it started just once a month, than every other week, than weekly, now its daily, I cannot explain how the pain is, it goes up one side of my face, starting in the back of the right side of my head, into my ear, up my face, and it stays there for 3 hours, on a pain scale its about an 8...ive tried everything, heat, ice, pressure, pacing, everything. nothing works. its driving me insane...

is there anything that you have all found that helps you?

Hi Lisa,

There is a lot of info on the left of your screen about CH. Start with the cluster quiz.

Make sure u got a proper diagnose, get an appointment with a known neuro.

I see a neuro at the beginning of dec.
He thought they were migraines, but is now leaning more towards cluster, wants to put me on Decadon, Butisol, AND another med i cant think of the name right now....

I will let u know how it goes.

IF your doc is familiar with clusters which I hope he is then he will be familiar with what is presented.

This is a great resource to know like the back of your hand...print it out and give it to the doc

It will present the appropriate treatments that you should seek and your doctor should know!!!

If you want an abortive with the least amount of side-effects O2 should not only be requested but demanded from your doctor!!!

There are several headache types that exhibit similar traits to CH yet differ in duration, location and intensity.
They also respond differently to medications.

You might consider asking your doctor for a trial of indomethacin. Within a few days if your HA dissipate then you don't have CH.

Take the cluster quiz as well.

Read up as much as you can before seeing the neuro.

Lisa - it's safe to say you'll get best possible advice on dealing with CH here, tho' it'd be silly to try and diagnose you on so little information.

Everyone's different - but the one goal is to get lives back from CH, and some of the success stories people post are not only great to read but proof that you can.

E-double as always gives great advice. I listened to it and it helped me immensely. Hope the neuro is helpful to. Just make sure you have read a lot before you go to see them.

yeah ill say the same as a few other erics advice is solid and as i did when i came here you should fallow that advice and always remember we are not doctors here we just learn thru trial and error and try to pass on the things that work best.
hang in there lisa we are here for ya . and oh yeah read read read everything you can on ch it helped me aton.

Hi Lisa, sorry to hear that you need to find help - This is the best I can offer with the limited information provided.

Log your symptoms, get to a neurologist - preferably a headache specialist, endure seveal tests to rule out potential physical causes, and get a good diagnosis.

Your description is very brief and could be symptoms of CH but many headache conditions fit the description you gave. The CH survey and much of the information you find here can help you become more knowledgeable as you work with a Neuro. and narrow down potential causes.

Keep us up to date with your progress.
