The last roses of the year (taken about a month ago)

The rest of these were taken on the bluffs or at Lake D'Arbonne.  We're finally getting some real fall colors.

PROGRESS!  Clear cutting at it's finest!

And last but not least~All these and those above were taken two weeks ago.

Red eared slider turtle (actually these turtles are bred for pets, but have/are being introduced into the wild).

Water hyacinth

A better shot of the duck blind

This turtle (think it's a common mud turtle) was waaaaay out in the middle of the lake.

I don't know quite what happened when I took this picture, but I liked the result anyway, so...

Last one, I promise! Holly

Beautiful as always Carolyn, I love the one of the light through the trees in particular, it made me think of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" for some reason!

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs
Wearing the tangerine suits
And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.

Beware the slider turtle if it isn't native to the area.  Rotten things have found their way into some of our waterways are devastating the habitat.
