taraann,

First what size is the file. If it is under 10 meg then email should be fine, Just send an email and click attachment, diffrent clients do it a little diffrent. Web mail will have the same options. It is easier to find if you put the file on your desktop.

If the file is too large then you can send it with an IM client, or skype. Most have that option on the IM window.

If still not clear, then let me know.

Careful with Limewire.

Alledgedly it is no longer a moderated site. It was abandoned I guess and is supposed to be full of viruses.

I use Frostwire which is identicle to Limewire but moderated. Or so I'm told.

Hmmm I just recently discovered limewire and love it so far.... no extra popups or viruses (it's been about 2 months)... what do u mean by moderated? Like there is no one in charge of keeping an eye on things?

Paul... I think I get what you mean, I saved it to a spot (which I was having trouble doing when I posted this) then uploaded it and emailed... I'll find out if it works when I  get a chance to ask the person if they got it.

Frostwire is a client of the Gnutella network like Limewire but it was built to allow locking of copyrighted transfers in case the RIAA cracks down. As long as you use a system targeted by the virus writers, peer to peer is always risky. There is no one screening downloads for malware, you have to do that yourself. Stay safe out there.

Well it was 4kb and I thought I attatched and sent it right but just found out it didn't work.... I really wanted to be able to do it on email cause I rarely get a chance to log onto messenger for long lately.

I'll have to look into that Frostwire.

While we are on the subject of pc's any advice on a laptop.  I'm planning on buying one in the near future.  I want to spend less than$1000 and I want wireless set up, good memory, cd/dvd burner, and be able to use picture programs and such on it.  I'm quite clueless when it come's to laptops or notebooks or whatever....

It could be that your email provider is blocking that kind of attachment, or theirs is. Try to zip it before sending. It's so small size isn't the problem. Try sending it to me and I can host in on my website, then I can give you a link that will let them download it.

A cheap laptop from HP or Dell should have those features. If you want one for simple multimedia then you should look at an Apple, but I'm not sure you will get one for under $1000, but then again, you will have iLife for pictures and such and not to have to worry about viruses and such for a while.

Thanks for all the help guys... I bookmarked all the suggested links.  But I think I got it (thanks to paul for walking my blonde self through it!) Like my father in law says to me, "you may not look blonde anymore but you can't hide it" ahhh gotta love family lol.

Hey Merry Christmas... No matter what I can always come home (here) and get advice or help on just about anything.
