Title: Some sad news
Post by Sandy_C on Dec 21st, 2006, 4:49pm
Sad. but not devastating.

My daughter, Amanda (the one who was on Wheel of Fortune) had to go to the emergency room on Sunday morning with severe abdominal pains.  Turns out she had an ectopic pregnancy and had to have emergency surgery to stop the internal bleeding, and lost one of her fallopian tubes, along with the baby (embryo).

She and her husband have been trying to get pregnant for two years, she lost one fertilized egg because it just didn't adhere to her uterus two months ago, and now she has one that does adhere, but in the wrong place.  She was six weeks along and had planned on spreading the good news with us at Christmas.

This would have been our first grandchild.

She has been taking Clomid for several months (can produce multiple babies), but now, they are going to go straight to in-vitro because she doesn't want to go through this again.

They will still be with us at Christmas, but not quite as happy as they had planned.

Sandy

One that didn't adhere, one that adhered too soon. Next one's gonna be juuuuusssst right.

I'm sorry for your loss, Sandy. Please tell Amanda and her husband that our hearts go out to them.

Aw, Sandy - that's too bad for them and for you too.

Wishing her the very best of luck with the next procedure.

I agree with Bill - the next one will take just fine.

Hugs
Carol

The bells for next Christmas may ring the tune she'll want to hear.  I've two small darling nieces and a nephew from invitro.  Wishing best for Amanda and all the family, Sandy.

My boss from 4 years ago went through a ton of similar things that unfortunately everyone at work knew about.  That year, a ton of people got pregnant in our office and she continued to struggle.  Miscarrys are bad enough but to have fertility issues and then miscarry is horrible.

Anyway, I went back to work this year (I used to visit every month anyway) and she and I swap stories about our kids.  We both have 4 year olds.

Anyway, as horrible as the situation was, she and her daughter have a very special bond because of what she went through.  I pray for your daughter that this situation will be a distant memory in a few years as she holds her chiild or children and rocks him/her/them to sleep.

I'm so sorry Sandy... she must be heart broken... I lost two myself...She has to heal and grieve though she never held those babies.  It is very hard to lose a pregnancy no matter how far along you are.
Gods love to you.  Hug her hard... and I will pray that she someday gets to hold and raise a baby.

I really feel so sad for them and know fully well how they feel.  I was pregnant 7 times and have three beautiful living children.  It was rough....one was a 7 mo. preemie who lived 36 hours.

But not giving up is the answer.  It will happen eventually.

Love and prayers,
Donna Har.

:( Sad news, Sandy.  Take heart, though.  There is still plenty of time and good medical advances to help her give you that grandchild.  It's good that you will be able to spend time with Amanda and her husband at Christmas.
