this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY...
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days.
If they do, you can file a complaint at this Web site. You can register your home or mobile phone for free. Your registration will be effective for five years.

I signed my home phone up for the do not call list and still got quite a few calls from time share companies that pushed their offers in Las Vegas which included a lot of hotel rooms. The funny part is that I lived in Henderson.

Ok, I finally found the answer.
Cell Phones
You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. The registry has accepted cell phone numbers since it opened for registrations in June 2003. There is no deadline to register a home or cell phone number on the Registry.
You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. Federal Communications Commission regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers.

Thanks, Jimi, I'm glad to hear that the FCC prohibits telemarketers from using automated dialers to my cell.
You see, I've never had a cell phone of my own until this Christmas. I really don't need one, really don't want one. I'm at my desk at work from 50 to 60 hrs per week, and the rest of the time, I'm pretty much at home. In between, I don't want anyone bothering me by phone.
Because the upcoming months will bring some car travel alone for me between home and the city where my daughter will be married next September, my husband gave me a Tracphone for Christmas. This is one of the "pay as you go" phones. It's great - it's all I need, but I sure don't want some GD telemarketer using up my pre-paid minutes!

But ya know..... I registered both, my home and cell on the DNC list. That really hasn't stopped all of the calls. I still get the calls from "non-profits" and during the last campaign was getting one to four calls a day from everyone including Clinton.
What really pisses me off are the pre recorded messages from solicitors that don't allow me to bitch!

Do not call does not cover companies you have had prior dealings with or non-profits (including campaigns).
If you get a call from a company other than these and you are on Do Not Call.... find out about the company while they are on the phone and log the ddate and time. then report them.
The Missouri Do Not Call pays for itself with fies for offenders.

During the last election we got just such a call from our Prime Monster. Didn't need the phone to voice my opinion, they could have heard me all the way to Canberra.
