Jay,

Welcome to the jungle. Any "friends" who would trash your friendship because you can't go out on the town due to a physical problem would be no friends of mine. Fuck 'em. Find new friends.

Glad to see your regaining control. You'll find, as you read and learn around here, that many of us lead very normal lives. This is the hand you've been dealt, now it's up to you to learn how to live with it. Pain is inevitable, joy is optional.

Like Brew said, lots of people lead very productive lives in spite of the pain.  The trick is to learn to live between or when that fails, in spite of the hits.

Welcome to the nut house cluster brother.

We all "live our lives between the hits!" Grin

Welcome to the board, read up on the treatments currently available, fire away with any questions you have. No one has figured out how to "cure" these damned things yet but given the right regimen they are certainly manageable! Glad you found us!

Many of the people on this site are my friends for life.  No one understands me, or what I go through, as well as they do.  I've met many in person and for the most part, they are more than worth their weight in gold.

I agree, they are no friends if all they care about is you going clubbing with them.  Real friends would find other things to do with you.

*hugs*

Hi Jay

Welcome to Ch.com and I for one will be more than glad to have you as a friend.

My husband has CH and I understand very well how hard it is to maintain a social life when one is getting hit hard.

He is out of cycle now but last year there were many times we had to cancel meetings or reschedule them or just had to leave early due to the devil wanted to have a solo dance with him !

We used to sit home bracing, waiting for the next hit, hoping that the cycle would end soon and was literally putting our lives on hold waiting for the end. Well ! That cycle lasted 8 months !!

In the end we got sick of not having a life, so we decided that just to make it simpler, we started to act as if he was already chronic. That was such a blessing, it freed us believe it or not. Once we changed our mindset and decided that we would live anyway, by hook or by crook we were going to do it, we focussed on the painfree time and lived .... then the cycle stopped !

I love what Jonny says " chronic is a state of mind " and what Chewy says " Never postpone life for CH " . Live by that motto and you will be set free.

Hugs and painfree wishes to you.  Smiley

PS: dropped you an email too.

Hey and welcome to the nut house,

We're all here to help and someone is up all the time...

I've been chronic since 97 and do pretty well trying to be normal (wasn't too normal before then Grin).

Don't worry about the clubbing mates - you'll meet new people and things will work out. There will just be things you'll learn to avoid, but life will go on.

Keep your attitude positive and you'll do fine.

Hugs BD
