Lingering Headaches

I have been recently been diagnosed  with Ch, at that time I was having headaches twice a day. After starting on Verapamil I was pain free for about a week. Two days ago I forgot to take my morning dose and since then my headaches have returned but they seem different. They have gone from intense pain that last for an hour or so and then I feel drained but no lingering pain to less severe pain for a short while and then it just seems to linger all day long with no real end. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a side effect of the drug? Rebound headache? Am I just crazy? Thanks  Huh

This type of headache seems to be pretty good at morphing, and this is not the first report I heard of things changing when letting up on an effective treatment.  You seem to be describing 'shadows' or shadowing.

Try caffeine, either an energy drink or strong coffee. What you're describing is what many people describe as shadows. For me they feel like a cluster headache that wants to start, but just can't get a toehold. Strong coffee will sometimes ratchet them down for me. If they continue you might want to check back with your doctor and make sure it'sot a seperate and distinct problem.

Missing one dose of Verap will not affect the amount in your body, so its not that.

It takes Verap many days to get into your system and many days to get out.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

sounds like the shadowlands to me...you could try slamming an energy drink that has caffeine and taurine in it...
there is some concern however, about mixing energy drinks with verapamil... Undecidedif I knew how to post a link I would.
Since the energy drinks work so well with me and shadows I chose to overlook the warnings-am on 360 mg of verap.
