Title: sleeping tips
Post by outofcommission on Mar 19th, 2008, 11:49pm
allot of these are common knowledge to those of us who have been on the board for a while so  i'm posting this in hopes of helping some of our new members deal with getting some zzzz and to get some of us veterans a chance to reveal their secrets. heres a list of some things that help me sleep.

*sleep sitting up
*no chocolate or nitrates  before bed
*o2 at 2 lpm with a nose piece (not a face mask)
*using a humidifier or vaporizer in the bedroom
*cool moist air
*breath right strips over the nose
*melatonin
*keeping ice water or other abortives in the fridge and ready to go
*4way non generic nasal spray to clear your sinuses
i hope this helps and i hope others will add to this list. ;)

Havent tried it myself but a lot of folks say melotonin helps with sleep.

a shot of Benadryl before bed may help some folks.

I have never found any way to make sleep easier for me.
When hit's come, they come hard and often. I have spent many a night sleeping with my head on the counter with 5 minute catnaps. I just pass out at some point but I sure wake up fast when the demon comes a calling.

I guess my best advice is get sleep however you can, whether its 10 minutes or 2 hours, you will get hit with or without sleep.

More important for me than going to sleep is regardless how much sleep allways get up at the same time. Try to keep the clock on schedule.

When I'm in cycle, I take melatonin 1/2 hour or 1 hour before bedtime.  Others take Benadryl along with it--I take 4 mg. of the OTC antihistamine, chlorpheneramine maleate.  Probably acts in much the same way as Benadryl to make you sleepy.

Best,

George

melatonin and benydryl? My husband couldn't get out of bed in the morning with both - don't they both make you sleepy? I'm actually looking for the best quality melatonin - anybody know what that is? One that will kick ass and yet not give a hangover

Mybelle,
I use Natures Bounty and it is my preferred brand.

I use melatonin and benadryl every night.  I do not wake up groggy at all, as a matter of fact, I feel energized.

Try to take the sleep aids on an empty stomach, it helps to get them into and out of your system in 8 hours or less.
