Title: Items needed for auction @ convention
Post by Linda_Howell on May 4th, 2008, 1:24pm

Every year the OUCH auction brings in money to help OUCH and every year people have donated many many items.   Wisconsin cheese, shineys, mosaic ball, art work, etc.

I will personally be contacting....(uh NO, I believe begging would be a better word) a lot of people to contribute to this years auction.   As I get people to agree, I will post it here.  The auction is also one of the many 'fun' events at the convention.

If you have something you'd like to donate, Please post it here, so we can start making a list of the donated items.  If you cannot attend the convention it can be a way for you to be a part of this annual event.

Please Pm me for the address of where to send it, or if you want to bring it with you to Dallas that is fine too.

      Linda

I have already heard from Svenn and he will be bringing something beautiful from Norway.  Whoo_hoo and way to go Svenn...  and thank you.

He wanted to bring me a smoked sheeps head but I turned down the offer.  lol

Jonny has agreed to contribute  another 'shiny'  I think 2 yrs. ago Racer took the bid on his other one.  It is really beautiful.

No, but you can contact her about purchasing one. She is donating one to OUCH, but her other ones are for sale:

Cathi Pierce just informed me that she will be donating a very special  "supporters" basket  that she's putting together.

I'd like to add here that.. even if you don't know exactly what you might donate for the auction, posting that you will bring or send something here, will give me at least an idea of what we'll be working with.

Hi Linda thought I would post a picture of 1 of the many things I can and will donate to the convention sorry to say but I wont be able to attend it again BUT I have made everyone of the meet & greets here in my home town of DavCon Ü
ok here it is cost me $1.00 at local hobby shop a 1/24th scale 1966 Chevelle SS396 and I made the (3) OUCH decals and put 1 on each door and 1 on the trunk lid. It will come in a clear plastic case to keep the dust off and is great for showing it off. Enjoy this and all the other things I will be sending to the address I was given. I will ship it by the end of next week.                            Terry (the builder)

Now I WAS thinking of auctioning "Push an ex over Niagara" rights... heh, heh, heh they'd be moving Fort Knox to Dallas to accomodate the OUCH loot  ;;D

Seriously though, I'm lost for ideas so any suggestions would be welcome!

Okay I'm auctioning a purple thong.

Anyone who does NOT want to see Chuck wearing it or find pictures of it in their inbox daily had best start bidding now  ;)

Tanya,
It doesn't have to be homemade/handmade!  Shoot, the Wisconsinites usually donate cheese every year and as far as I know, not many own a churn  ;).

I will bring some local Jersey produce, we have our own vineyard that makes a really good red wine, I do not drink white but I am sure that is good, and some other Jersey bits and bobs , I shall start taking notice of what is on my own doorstep

Tanya be sure and check with the TSA website as to what you can and can't bring, you don't want anything confiscating and also, they're allowed to take a lot less booze into the US than we can here.

We have very strict rules here as well, we do not fall under the EU .  I think I can only take two bottles of wine and 200 ciggis., to the uk and the same bringing in.  But I will check the allowance for the USA.

I may be wrong, but I think you're allowed to bring 1 fifth/bottle into the US (I'll ask sarah when she gets home).

Tanya, make it easy on yourself and just bring something small and non-breakable.   I'd hate to see you wearing clothes all week-end that had red stains on them from a broken bottle of wine.

Helen has brought English tea and bisquits in years past.  Just a thought that where you are from,  MUST have some other regional things that you can bring without a huge problem with customs..etc.

Someone from Switzerland is sending Swiss Chocolates, Svenn in Norway will be bringing something "Viking" Wisconsinites will be sending cheese, etc.  It doesn't and shouldn' t be a problem for you.  That is not what we want.  We want you to just get here and have a great time.

Linda

Thank everybody, its not a big issue, except I was not aware of the problem for booze, I am sure I can find something local that will not be a problem.

If not then its the good old fall back on the the Airport shop which always does a good selection of sweeties. Giant Tolberone get ready to travel
