Post by DJ on Jul 16th, 2006, 9:40am
Well, we filled the league during the convention!  For those of you who want to check out the help page on ESPN, here is the link:

http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=fflrulesindex

Get on there and check out how it works because I don't want any excuses when the season starts!!!

OK, so I keep seeing "auto draft"....does this mean the computer automatically picks the teams for us or do we select our own?  I have a wicked lineup that I would LOVE to get...and I know how to move that lineup up and down the list thingy...is that the right thing to do?

Can a girl get a clue here?

I hope we have a "live" draft thats a lot of fun.  Auto draft you can end up with a lot of shit players that you dont want.

I believe DJ said that if we want to do it live we have to all be logged in together as a league...I will double check for you though DD.

Right, if we do it live, we all have to be there together and it takes a few hours but it's really fun

yikes, good luck getting us all together at the same time!

Right, if we live draft, we all have to be online at the same time and everyone will be on a 2 minute clock to make our picks.  Fat chance of that happening!!!

We will use the autodraft method which will go off of the pre-rank list you make on your team page.  You can rank the players in the order you'd like to have them picked and on 16 Aug, the computer will go down everyone's list and pick the available players in your order.

You can see the pick numbers you have so you can kind of build your list around your pick numbers but when it comes down to it, the computer takesthe top person on your list when it's your turn.  Does that make sense?

Here's a link to the autodraft help page on ESPN that might explain it a little better:

http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=fflrulesautopickdraft

Keep the questions coming!

Man I feel like a minnow surrounded by a bunch of sharks. I'm a basketball guy. I haven't followed the NFL since the 70's. That means I will probably win. Anyway, I'm in there. Thanks DJ.

You're probably right Jimi! LOL  It's ok, just fill in the starting lineup each week with the highest projected players and you'll do just fine.  You'll see how easy it is when the season gets going...

So DJ, is it possible to resend me an invitation And I'll start over. Or any other Ideas???  My working email is...Bluegloria@aol.com

Alos found out I have 7,yes Seven ESPN user names.  I have no Idea...

Kev,

I deleted your current team and sent you a new invitation...  Don't know if it will work or not.  Hopefully, you'll get the invitation and can get signed up again TODAY.  Remember, the draft is tomorrow morning so you need to hop in it, ASAP.

Let me know how it works out!

How do I get my helmit on my profile ? I was gonna copy it into shutterfly then paste here, but from the ESPN site, it won't let me copy it.

my team sucks so bad, I picked up Bettis...even though he's retired it was an improvement  ;;D

Well I have the worst team for sure...Best team??  Looks like Cats team and Stefs team will be tough to beat.

Kev, what happens when you try and get news on the players?  Nothing happens when you click the notes next to the players names?

Will this link work for you??

If one has a empty slot on the bench......why can't a player be claimed from the waiver lists? I must be doing something wrong.....

Title: Re: Fantasy Football Help
Post by kissmyglass on Aug 31st, 2006, 2:13am
The guy you are trying to pick up was probably recently dropped.  I think it takes 2 days for a dropped player to be claimed.  Since you are first on the waiver list, just put your order in and you'll get him as soon as he clears.

Hope that made  sense

I dunno if that's it or not.....it keeps asking me to check a player I wish to delete.....and I have a empty slot already......

Hey Bill-

Maybe it wants you to select "bench", the open spot. I'm not sure, just a thought.

Bill,

Sorry I'm late on this one.  If you are trying to claim a player off waivers and you do have an empty roster spot, just click the "Confirm" button when it comes up and asks you if you want to go through with the transaction and it should add that player to your empty spot.

It comes up with that page with the check marks in case you want to drop another player when adding someone off of waivers.

Not sure if you're doing it right. After you choose the guy you want, you have to drop a guy from your bench, then hit submit roster. It won't let you pick someone up without first telling it who you're gonna drop when the change takes affect.

I have a question about how ESPN scores a player......

Antwaan Randle El had yardage on punt returns that didn't show up in his total yards. Is that not counted towards a players totals for the game?

Bill

Title: Re: Fantasy Football Help

Bill..go under League Info and then go under Settings. I believe kickoff returns only count when they return for a touchdown. (whiner :P)

I believe all special teams plays will count for the defence.  So if Randel El ran one back for a touchdown, he wouldn't get the 6 points, the defence would.
I think.... :)

Yes, return yards don't count for any points.  Only touchdowns for punt and kick returns and the points would go towards the D/ST.
