Title: Projected Playoff Matchups
Post by Kingjames1 on Nov 29th, 2006, 9:56pm
Hey DJ- My boys won't be participating, but I noticed when you hit the link for the projected matchups, there are three teams from division one, and one from division two.  Supposed to be the top two from each division, right?

I think the commish should look at the shadows/10s matchup as it may have playoff implications...even though *I* won't have any implications ;-(

I was wondering about this as well....

Also I picked up a kicker from waivers...Martin Gramatica. He's still shown as Indy's back up......not on the Dallas roster so I can't play him. Not good.

Good point KJ, I was under the same impression.  Looking at the league default settings (which haven't been edited), here is what it says:

Playoff Schedule
In the first round of the playoffs, the division winner with the best won-loss record plays the wild-card team with the worst won-loss record; the other division winner plays the wild-card team with the better won-loss record. In the second round, the winners of the first-round games compete for the League Championship. Each round of the playoffs spans a two-week period."

After this week is final, we will need to discuss the playoff bracket.  I can manually edit it if need be...

What is everyone's thoughts?

More to come!

My thought is...you go with the default setting. That was the rule from day one. Right?

Bummer... I thought the playoffs where the top 2 teams in each division. lol
Looks like my starters had better play good from here on out.  :o

One vote "default" for me

And one voted "default" for team Murray.

Thanks!

Are we gonna do this again next year?

Well, it's not my default that reggie bush didn't stop dropping the ball until this week...  :-X

I'm not in em (thanks reggie) but I think that if everyone "thought" it was the top two in each division, thats the way they played the season and probably made moves based upon that.

Can I get a wild card invite for having the best cheerleaders?

Thanks everyone for a fun year. Hope to do this again next year...only better on my part ;-)

Great job DJ

Bob

I hope so.

As to the question, I was under the (mistaken) impression that the top 2 teams from each division would go to the playoffs.....but if the default is different, then so be it. I'll read the rules next year.  ;;D

Bill, looking back at what DJ said above, I read that it still is the top 2 teams in each division. Did I read it wrong? If I did, my vote is we still stick to top 2 teams in each division.

Ok guys and gals, I'm pretty sure I mentioned the playoffs being the top two teams from each division because that was my understanding of the rules.  However, looking at the wording AND seeing how ESPN shows the projected matchups, it looks to me like the default settings are seeded like this:

Two division winners seeded #1 and #2.  Seeds #3 and #4 will be the two "wild card" teams with the next-best over-all records, whichever division they are in.  To me, it seems like how Major League Baseball works the playoffs.  They take the three division winners and the one "wild card" team with the next best record.

It's mostly MY BAD for not knowing exactly what the rules regarding the playoffs were, but like I said, if it is a big deal, I can change the matchups after the games tonight.

ABSOLUTELY!  Probably with a few changes...

1) 12 team league
2) One division instead of two
3) Live draft instead of auto draft

Any more suggested changes?

I'd suggest having more than 4 teams make the playoffs. Maybe 6 teams with the top 2 getting byes?

You could also have the two worst teams play in the Toilet Bowl, for a small prize. ;-)

However you want to run it, or whereever DJ is fine by me.
I agree on your other points.

I also wouldn't be adverse to a percentage going to ch.com or OUCH either.

Good luck to those playoff bound...congrats!!!

thanks again

Looks like the Panther's D/ST pulled it out for Tim Z so there won't be any drama to settle for the playoff brackets.  It's the top two teams from each division.

GOOD LUCK!

As long as we can get everyone together at the same time, a live draft would be cool. Might be hard to get 12 people together at the same time.....

Also......it appears that just because we have 4 teams playing for the top spot doesn't mean the rest of us are done.......all of us (losers, has beens, and never weres)  ;;D still have the consi games to play.....for pride if nothing else.

I've really enjoyed this......I'm in for next year.

Bill,

A live draft will work.  I experimented with it this year with my league at work.  We'll talk more about it next summer...   ;;D

And yes, you are correct!  Everyone is still playing for pride, so hang in there!

Looking forward to next season...
