I someday will own a full size camera with a kick-ass lens, but because we take our camera's with us biking we opted for these two camera's because they can take some abuse. We bought this one two years ago. It worked out so well we then bought the improved version of it. All our pics and video were done with these two cameras and we are very happy with them, not too expensive and very tough.

I got a digital cam for Christmas and all I've learned to do is take pics, zoom in for closer pics, delete pics, basic stuff. Once I download the software, hopefully soon, i'm sure i'll be asking lots o' questions. Langa

| Charlie, my Canon SD450 fell off a log and down a rock to come to rest in the sand as I was attempting to take a pic of myself using the timer while biking one day solo.. Camera never missed a beat. We just recently bought the Canon SD1000 for $180.00 and it is a better camera than our SD450.

Svenn, the scenery is breathtaking, and that is one sweet camera. Someday I will get a better quality one myself. Vig, nice pic of the Blue Heron, we have them here too. A very majestic bird indeed. Thanks for sharing guys.

I just wanted to add a neat little accessory we bought about a month ago. It is called the " Joby gorillapod" and is very handy for when we go biking. This pod will mount on any surface, tree branch, or whatever we choose in the wilderness. Looks funny but really works well.

"Looks funny but really works well. " I have one of those too, Barry. the legs bend so you can wrap them around tree branches or whatever, it's really handy. This Mourning Dove is nesting in my oregano...

Will the Joby gorillapod work with a heavier camera and lens? I saw one in my last issue of PhotoPlus, but didn't pay much attention~camera bag is already getting full. I bought some more filters the other day and hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can get out and take some pictures! Jimbo and I will be heading to south Louisiana this coming weekend so will have pictures of that trip. Carolyn n/m, found one-ordered one

I just put my hand on the gorillapod and pushed down on it fairly hard and it never folded on me or moved. I do not see why it wouldn't hold a larger camera but do not have one to try. Vig has a larger camera and one of these pods, so maybe he will know.

I found one that is rated for heavier cameras/with lens. That will keep me from having to take the tripod with me when I go walking. Damn, mo' money spent on photography.

I don't know nothin bout photography, but I was lookin at the pics and noticed you are in Weaverville John! Guess where we are planning on getting a house? Already have appt's set up for a couple houses in Weaverville, if those photos are any indication of what NC is going to be like, then I just got a whole lot more excited about having to move! Damn that is some gorgeous scenery you and Paul are showing off! Cat

Some awesome pics here folks! I'm still getting into taking more artistic shots. This is one I'm most proud of (on my little Pentax, who is now suffering from an inferiority complex after looking at all these cool cameras). I had it printed and put onto canvas. And a few others... All were taken on a little island between Malaysia and the Phillipines. Edited because I'm a dodo.

This is what I use: and here is a web site about these cameras: http://graflex.org/speed-graphic/pacemaker-crown-graphic.html. I prefer B&W and have gotten into Infrared photography but not done much lately. Here is one of Cape Hatteras lighthouse taken in 1998. TomM

Tom, Oh my, I do like the light house! I've seen some gorgeous infrared photographs on the Canon forum that I'm a member of. Emily, I like those pictures and it make me want to go anywhere but here . I'm a sucker for a sunset. Vig, I'm glad that's *you* taking that pic and not me, don't care how far away I might be. I haven't been out much, gas is too damned high and I'm not about to hike these grown-up cutovers here. Hopefully, the weather will hold and I'll get some pictures when JImbo and I head south this weekend.
